Movie Review: Eddie the Eagle Starring Hugh Jackman

June 18, 2016 by Shelly

Movie - Eddie the EagleInspired By A Dream Come True – EDDIE THE EAGLE Lands On Digital HD May 27th and on Blu-ray & DVD June 14th, 2016.

Movie Synopsis: Taron Egerton co-stars alongside Academy Award® Nominee Hugh Jackman* in this high-flying, feel-good story inspired by true events. Egerton plays Eddie “The Eagle” Edwards, an unlikely but courageous British ski-jumper who never stopped believing in himself–even as an entire nation was counting him out. With the help of a rebellious and charismatic coach (Jackman), the lovable underdog wins the hearts of fans around the world by making an unforgettable showing at the 1988 Calgary Winter Olympics.

Our Thoughts: Hubby and I are HUGE sport’s fans and love all kinds of sports. When the Olympics are on TV every 2 years…we are glued! We love watching the athletes from all around the world compete. Very awe-inspiring to see all of those athletes accomplish their goals.

We sat down to watch this movie a few nights ago and really enjoyed it. The acting is fantastic and the story line is very entertaining. I was not familiar with who Eddie the Eagle is…so I can’t tell you how accurate the film is. I’m assuming that since it says “inspired by true events” that it means some of it’s accurate and other areas might be added in for their entertainment value. Not really sure on that.

As you all know, I never give out spoilers here on the blog. I can tell you that my husband and I really enjoyed this film. It was a good mix of drama, excitement, comedy, etc. Very well-acted and had a story line that kept you entertained from start to finish. Overall, we both gave it 8 popcorn buckets out of 10 popcorn buckets on our entertainment rating scale. This is one that we do recommend that you add to your video library.
