Gifts that Sparkle: Jewelry Ideas for that Special Someone

Gessener Estate Jewelry Diamond and Sapphire RingAlthough beauty is in the eye of the beholder when it comes to jewelry, one thing is for sure, most of us love to give and receive a gift that sparkles.

You only have to browse a collection like the one you can view online at Gesner for example, to appreciate just how many stunningly diverse and attractive pieces are just waiting to be given to someone special in your life.

Never Be Afraid to Ask

Let’s be honest, the idea of trying to find exactly the right piece of jewelry that you want to give as a special gift, can strike an element of fear into even the most discerning shopper.

Following a gender stereotype for just a moment, it is more often the men who might end up making a buying mistake, simply because they were too afraid or wouldn’t consider asking for some help in choosing.

It often pays to ask for a bit of advice on what type of jewelry might be appropriate to buy, depending on the circumstance you are buying for and based on a brief description of what your gift recipient tends to like best, such as silver or gold.

If you are viewing items online, this is not a problem, and you might even find it easier to browse at your leisure.

All you have to do is pay attention and note what sort of clothes and jewelry they tend to wear most often, then try to find something that matches or at least complements their existing style choices.

Deciding What Kind of Jewelry to Buy

There are many different types of jewelry available, so it would help narrow your choices by deciding what kind of jewelry they might want.

Earrings are a very popular choice and this practical and elegant accessory can often prove to be a winning option if you are looking for something that is almost certainly going to be well received.

Rings are also an enduringly popular option and depending on the occasion, might be what you should be concentrating on looking for. A ring can often be given with a clear intention in mind, such as a symbol of love or the status of your relationship. If you are buying jewelry for a specific occasion or purpose, then a ring will often fulfill your needs.

A bracelet can work out to be an excellent fashion accessory for many occasions, so it is another choice that might work well when deciding what to buy. Try to buy a bracelet that is about 10mm longer than the circumference of the wrist of who you are buying for, so that it should fit them perfectly when they receive their gift.

Personal Preference

Some people have an allergic reaction to certain types of metal, with silver often being the one metal that can cause a problem if they have sensitive skin.

Do bear this in mind when choosing your jewelry, and also take the time to think about what type of jewelry they seem to prefer and then aim to try and find a piece that meets this criteria and is in your chosen budget range.

You are right about men being afraid to ask about a jewelry gift. I would rather be consulted than receive something I might not like to wear. Ms. Abbott gave a lot of good advice and it is important to be aware of a person’s allergic reactions.

  2. I like to accent with fun pieces of jewelry although I do have to watch for items that have nickel in them because I am allergic. My husband will wear a simple gold chain but that is about all the jewelry that he is comfortable with.

I like a really fine piece of jewelry best. I would far rather have just one than many cheap ones. I don’t wear costume jewelry at all.
