How many of you love ice cream, popsicles, sorbet and other frozen treats? What if I told you that you can make your own healthy frozen fruit desserts and ice cream in your home within minutes using one easy-to-operate machine? Have I got your attention yet? If so, read on!

Let me introduce you to Yonanas, the banana and frozen fruit ice cream maker made by Dole. This one machine will make healthy fruit flavored desserts which are the consistency of soft-serve ice cream. Not only that, you only need a handful of ingredients to make the delicious treats and it only requires a few minutes of your time.

Yonanas Banana Ice Cream Maker - Tropical Mango

One of the things I really love about using the Yonanas is that I control the ingredients which means there are no preservatives and everything is freshly made according to my own taste buds. I can whip up the family’s treats ahead of time, put it into a container and freeze them until serving time.

Each Yonanas machine comes with a recipe booklet and instruction guide. You can find additional recipes on their website too. What is really cool is that you no longer have to toss out your over-ripe bananas or other fresh fruits. When they have reached their peak of ripeness, place them in a freezer storage bag or container and freeze. Then when you want a fruity ice cream treat, thaw them out for a few minutes and run the semi-frozen fruit through the Yonanas. Within minutes, you’ll be enjoying a healthy frozen treat! Yup, it’s that easy!

Yonanas Ice Cream Maker - Tropical Mango, Banana and Strawberry Ice Cream

To put the Yonanas to the test, we decided to whip up some Tropical Yonanas which is bananas, mangoes, strawberries and blueberries. Once I removed our frozen fruits from the freezer, I left them sit on the counter at room temperature for about 12-15 minutes. You then start with the banana and feed that through the machine. We then alternated all of the frozen fruits with a half of a banana in-between. Once we were done…we stirred everything together in the bowl until blended.

Oh my gosh…this stuff is so good! I had to make 3 batches that day, so that everyone in the family could have a nice bowl of Tropical Yonanas Fruit Ice Cream! You can make small batches or big batches at a time and you can basically use any frozen fruit combination that you want. In addition, the recipe booklet has a few recipes on how you can make ice cream fruit pies which would make great summertime desserts!

Worried about clean-up? Don’t be! Once we were done, we rinsed off the pieces and dry them with a towel. It took us 3-4 minutes to totally clean up and I love that!

You can visit the Yonanas website to check out the classic Yonanas model and the new Yonanas elite model, as well as accessories to go along with your machine.  Your unit will come with a mini recipe booklet or you can add on a larger 130 recipes booklet to your order. Check out all of the Yonanas Recipes on their website to give you a good idea what you can make!

With summer weather finally here, I can’t wait to make this. I think it looks delicious. I hope I can make it look like you do!

  2. I have seen these advertised before but did not realize what healthy but yummy desserts they make. I love that you can use all sorts of fresh and frozen ingredients to individualize the ice cream. This might make a great birthday present for me.

  3. We used the Yonanas machine again last night and this time we tossed in some frozen pineapple chunks, frozen peaches, frozen bananas and mangoes. I then stirred in some chocolate chips. Oh my gee….it was delicious!

  4. I did a happy dance the day I found a Yonanas machine at Goodwill! So far all I’ve used it for are plain bananas (my favorite), bananas with mini chocolate chips, and bananas with Nutella. It’s amazing how plain frozen fruit can be transformed into delicious soft-serve treats. Now I always keep a few bananas in my freezer. Your Tropical Yonanas sounds like a great combination–thanks for the idea.

I have always ante to try one of these machines! The recipe look so easy and so good. I love bananas hubby not so much. I think I could fool him with this and it would be better than all the heavy dairy.

I love the idea of an ice cream made with bananas and other fruits. I can enjoy myself and not worry about the fat or sugar.

  7. This does sound nice! I like to make smoothies with frozen fruit, and also make ice cream – I need one of these!!!

I’ve been thinking of getting one of these for mid-summer when the kids are all here, and the kid’s kids too. Maybe I’ll just go ahead and do it and not wait! I like your recipe. So, dumb question, but does this machine have a cold element that you have to keep in the freezer or does it just make the consistency with blades or something and you do the freezing ahead of time with the individual ingredients?

    • No cold element at all Margot. The machine spits out all of the frozen fruit at soft-serve ice cream consistency. If you want it firmer, just put your bowl into the freezer for 10-15 minutes and then serve. Because you are using frozen fruits…that’s what gives it the “cold” ice cream feel and the machine blends it down to ice cream consistency.

I bet this makes good ice cream! Ice Cream machines are so much easier to use these days, & you get more ice cream out of them, lol.
