My mother is 68 years old and lives with us on a part-time basis. A few years ago she started having a slew of GI issues and after seeing a specialist, he told her that she needed to go gluten-free. Since that time, she has went to a 90% gluten-free diet.
Since she’s at our home all of the time, it’s my job to make sure that gluten-free products are coming into my home. Instead of buying two different items (one for us and one for her), we decided to add gluten-free products to our own nutritional diets.
Recently we were introduced to a new company in the United States called BFree who makes gluten free breads, rolls, pita breads, bagels and wraps. All of their products are low-calorie, high-fiber and low-fat, plus they have the same consistency and taste as conventional wheat breads.
The entire BFree line is free of wheat, dairy, eggs, nut and soy, meaning that all products are gluten-free, allergen-friendly and completely vegan! So, if you have a special diet or just want to eat better-for-you foods, try out the products from BFree.
For this review we received a few packages of the BFree Wheat & Gluten Free Stone Baked Pita Breads. Each package contains 4 pitas. Around here…we call them Pita Pockets.
The Pita Breads are high in fiber, no added sugar, non GMO, vegan, low in fat, gluten free, nut free, dairy free and egg free. If you have food allergies, these pita’s are for you! Each serving (one pita) is only 120 calories with only 9 fat calories. That’s impressive for a bread product!
Breakfast Pita Pocket Recipe:
We love making pita pockets for breakfast in the morning. We whip up some scrambled eggs and add-in chopped green bell pepper, onion, diced tomatoes, crumbled & cooked bacon and a little bit of minced garlic. Fry them on the stove-top just like an omelet or scramble them until almost done. Toss on some shredded cheese if desired. Remove from heat. Stuff the cooked omelet (scrambled eggs) into the Pita Bread (pita pocket) and serve immediately.
You can toss whatever you like into your egg mixture…like cooked ground sausage, cooked ground scrapple, all kinds of chopped veggies, whatever you like or have on hand.
The BFree Stone Baked Pita Breads are absolutely delicious! They are completely sealed around the edges and you just take a knife to open up one edge to turn it into a Pita Pocket. They can be eaten plain or toast them if you like a little bit of crunch. You can use them breakfast, lunch, dinner or as a snack.
You can learn more about BFree Foods by visiting their site online. Right now their products are in limited states but they’re expanding quickly across the nation. Check out their website to find out which stores currently carry their products.

I’ve tried the Befree bread when it was a featured Kroger Friday freebie recently. I looked everywhere and finally asked where they kept them, The store clerk showed me they were in the freezer section. I’ll have to try their pita bread and bagels next time.
We do like pita bread here, and I am sneakily substituting more and more of our food (especially my mom’s) to gluten-free. (sshhh….don’t tell) Your recipe is really nice, it seems like a Spanish or Southwestern omelet in the pita bread. I think this is a lot more satisfying as a breakfast (or any meal, really), than if were on plain toast!
These pitas sound delicious and I would love to try them. I like how easy they are to prepare to be stuffed. I like how they are made with ancient grains. Unfortunately there is no store nearby.
Hmmm… I’ve used eggs, cheese, and veggies as the filling for a breakfast burrito with a flour tortilla, but I’ve never thought of using them as a stuffing for a pita. What a great idea! Thanks–I’m sure this will be showing up on our breakfast plates before long.
I love recipes with pita bread. We use them often to make lunch and dinners with Greek salad or just warmed up with some hummus. Even though, we don’t have problems with gluten it is good to have some gluten free choices especially ones that taste good.
It is nice seeing so many more products geared with special diets in mind. Gluten free used to be just horrid tasting so its nice they are getting to be better tasting it is tough to go without bread!
I have always enjoyed pita bread, and I get gyro meat so we oftentimes have the pitas around . They make fantastic sandwiches like this and for breakfast they really shine holding eggs for a quick and easy break fast. Looks delicious!
If you have a toaster oven or you can toss the pita’s onto the grill…you can also toast them which adds a nice little crunch to them. Pita’s are so versatile and you can use them a ton of different ways!
Super yum! I buy gluten-free pita’s as well; they taste better somehow.
I have never heard of this recipe before and now I have to try it. I am a huge breakfast food lover and would rather have a great breakfast and sometimes I skip lunch. I run out of ideas and am not a big cereal eater anymore so this is one I would really enjoy thanks for sharing.
I’d love to try this recipe, although I don’t need the pitas to be gluten free flour. This is a great breakfast. And it is wonderful of you to take in your mom and be a help to her.
I saw this on your facebook page and did not know they were gluten free. Two of us at home are gf and also a son in law. These would be AWESOME to have for breakfast or for a quick lunch. Thanks for the idea! Will be using the link to see where they sell them in their limited states.
I need to make this recipe! I love gluten free breads and I had a gluten free pizza last night and it was amazing. I love pita bread!
