The Beautiful Hershey Gardens

Hershey Gardens in PennsylvaniaAs some of you know, we live 15 minutes from downtown Hershey in Pennsylvania. Hershey is known as being the sweetest place on earth and is a major tourist destination here in our area. During the spring, summer and fall months, thousands upon thousands of visitors flock to our area.

One of the places that we like to visit is the beautiful botanical gardens at Hershey Gardens which sits on 23 beautiful acres. In my opinion, the best time to visit them is during the middle of spring, late spring and early summer when I find that most of the flowers are in bloom. Plus, it’s not blazing hot & humid either!

Hershey Gardens and Butterfly House

You’ll have to pay an admission fee if you want to walk around the gardens and take a tour. There are tons of beautiful flowers, shrubs and trees to see plus they have an outdoor butterfly house & garden which the kids really love to see. I admit, I love seeing it too! There are themed gardens and a children’s garden to explore while you’re there and you can explore these gardens at your leisure.

Within driving distance of the Hershey Gardens you’ll find ZooAmerica (our little zoo) , Hershey’s Chocolate World, Hersheypark (amusement park), the Hershey Story Museum, Hershey Sweet Lights (seasonal attraction during November & December) and other area attractions. If shopping is your thing, the Hershey Outlets are nearby and there are some fabulous little boutiques you can visit in downtown Hershey.

  1. I love visiting botanical gardens in different places when we travel. Always fun to see what native plants are in the area. Hershey Gardens looks so serene and lovely, I know it would be on my list if I am ever in that area. Plus the grandkids would love the butterfly house.

I could sit in a place like that for hours! Your area is one I have always wanted to see. Besides the Hershey plant (which would be a must do tour) there looks to be so much more to do. I have to agree, the best time for the outside gardens is about now when everything is at it’s peak. It is a good time to visit too- not as much foot traffic, and you could have some quiet!

  3. I’ve wanted to visit Hersey and PA in general when I get back to the Ohio region. Maybe my sister and I can plan something next year. She’s vacationing in Michigan this year, one of her favorites. The Midwest is great to visit with all its sites, and wish I had done more of that growing up in that area.

This photo shows such a beautiful little garden. I did not know that Hershey had a lot of themed gardens. There is so much to see, and I would love to visit there one day.

  5. Posts like this make me realize the benefits of living near an urban area–so many fun and interesting places to visit! I would love to visit the Botanical Gardens, especially the butterfly house and garden. My poor camera would get a workout for sure!

I had no idea they had gardens like this! Is that a koi pond with the lily pads? I love that!

    • Yes, it’s a very beautiful, relaxing and tranquil place to visit. I have some other pictures of their beautiful flowers and stuff. I’ll share those in a new post in a few weeks.

I want to go to the Hershey Gardens! They are so pretty and my kids would love it. We like going to the gardens at our big park up the street!

Oh, is that stunning! It looks so peaceful in the Botanical Gardens. A butterfly house sounds so nice, I would love to sit and watch them. And that first picture you have with the water lilies…..it reminds me so much of Monet’s beautiful painfings of the same subject. Love the fish in there, too. What a restful place, you live near the best of everything!

  9. Nice area to live! I’ve not yet been to Hershey Gardens, it is so special. I want to check into going here, these pictures are gorgeous!

  10. Since my favorite place here in Denver is the Botanic Gardens, I’d love to see the Hershey Gardens. Do you have a membership to the gardens?

I’ve heard that Hershey is a very “sweet” place to visit and through your posts I’ve seen some of the attractions. This is one more beautiful one. Gardens are very tranquil, amazing, and awe-inspiring. We went to Covenant Gardens in Eureka Springs Arkansas one year and was blown away. I wouldn’t have guessed how long you could spend in a garden and still want to go back. You feel God’s magnificent creation in them.

  12. I would so love to visit your area. There sounds like so much to see and do. I would love to visit these gardens and the butterfly house that sounds so relaxing. I love nature and this time of year is the best.
