Movie Review: The Choice + Movie Trailer

May 15, 2016 by Shelly

Nicholas Sparks - The Choice“The Choice” is based on The New York Times Best-Selling Novel, Nicholas Sparks’ Story of True Love and Tough Decisions. The DVD is available now from Lionsgate and is available on Digital HD.

From novelist Nicholas Sparks, the author of classic love stories The Notebook and Dear John, the year’s most moving romance, The Choice. Based on Sparks’ best-selling novel, written for the screen by Bryan Sipe (Demolition), and directed by Ross Katz (Adult Beginners), The Choice stars Benjamin Walker (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), Teresa Palmer (Warm Bodies), Maggie Grace (Taken series), Alexandra Daddario (San Andreas), Tom Welling (TV’s “Smallville”) and Academy Award® nominee Tom Wilkinson (Best Actor, In the Bedroom, 2001), in a touching love story that will make viewers laugh, cry, and wonder how far they would go to keep the hope of love alive.

Travis is a fun-loving, smooth-talking bachelor who’s never considered a serious relationship—until he falls hard for his beautiful new neighbor, Gabby. But when fate threatens Travis and Gabby’s love, Travis must make a choice that will alter their lives forever in this unforgettably moving romance.

Check out “The Choice” movie trailer below.

The home entertainment release of The Choice include in-depth special features including audio commentary with director Ross Katz and actor Benjamin Walker, four behind-the-scenes featurettes and deleted scenes.

My Thoughts: About 3 months ago we took my mom with us on vacation and at the time she was reading the book “The Choice” and was raving about it. Typically, I’m not into romance flicks at all, but after hearing mom rave & rave about the book, I decided to add this movie to my “must-see” list.

I sat down to watch this movie with my husband and I have to admit, the movie was better than what I thought it would be. I was totally expecting one of those mushy-mushy romance movies with no story line (just a lot of making out)…but was pleasantly surprised that this movie had a really good story line! A lot of the actors in this movie were “new” to me, except for one or two of them. It’s always nice to be introduced to some new talent. I think the younger generation (teens and young adults) would really enjoy this movie. I’m older and did enjoy watching it, but it’s not one that I would rush out to purchase at my age. Just being honest.

As you all know, I don’t give out any spoilers in my movie reviews, because it totally ruins the experience. This movie is getting 7 popcorn buckets out of 10 popcorn buckets on my movie rating scale.

I love romances and movies that make me laugh and cry, so I would probably want to see the movie. I still haven’t read the book, but I shall get around to it soon.

Good honest review. I appreciate that. I’m not a big Nicholas Sparks fan (nothing against him or that I don’t like the items; they just aren’t my go-to movies/books). I like that you add it’s one you wouldn’t rush out to see or buy. That is how I was looking at it, too. I plan on seeing it just not in any hurry. Good to know that the acting is fresh and good.
