How many of you enjoy a good homemade cobbler or fruit crisp? I know we do and I make one every month. To keep from getting bored with it, I always change up my fruity ingredients.
We love just about anything made with apples. Since I had all of the ingredient in my pantry, we decided to bake up a batch of homemade apple crisp. While the recipe calls for sliced, fresh apples, I used my own apples that I canned last fall (I just drained out the syrup and didn’t bake the crisp as long as the recipe recommended, since my apples were already partially cooked). For those of you who can your own fresh apples, I used one quart jar and one pint jar of apples.
Easy Homemade Apple Crisp Recipe
3 large apples peeled, cored, sliced thin
3/4 cup light brown sugar
1/2 cup all-purpose flour
3/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Sprinkle of lemon juice
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Lightly grease an 8″ round baking dish with butter. Place apples into the baking dish and sprinkle just a tad of lemon juice on top. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl mix together the light brown sugar, all-purpose flour, quick cooking rolled oats, softened butter and ground cinnamon. Stir and mix ingredients together until it’s nice and crumbly.
Pour the oatmeal crumb mixture on top of your prepared apples in an even layer. Place baking dish into a preheated 350 degree oven and bake for 25 to 30 minutes or until done. Remove and serve warm.

I want to make something like this on Memorial Day weekend. This recipe looks perfect. I would love to thank you for these perfect recipes on your nice web site.
I’ve always loved apple crisp. The easier the better.
I am trying NuNaturals new green banana flour this week. Subbing this flour would make it gluten free. Apple-banana crisp sounds interesting to try anyway.
Great minds think alike! When the apple trees are loaded and I’m in full-on canning mode, I put up diced apples in a spiced syrup that I use for apple crisp throughout the year. I usually just use a quart to fill a small baking dish; if the syrup seems like too much liquid, I stir in a bit of quick-cooking tapioca. Sometimes I toss in a handful of raisins, too. I just love apple crisp! Now that you’ve got me thinking about it, I might just have to pull one of those jars off the shelf and get baking. 🙂
I love baking with apples. This is an easy apple crisp recipe. I wopuld probably add cinnamon to the apples as well as the crisp topping.
I love making apple crisp or berry crisp. We actually enjoy them more than pies and I find them so easy to make using ingredients I always have on hand. A little ice cream on the side and the perfect dessert.
I love recipes like this: apple crisps, apple pies, apple cobblers, etc. They remind me of my Grandma’s desserts.
I haven’t made apple crisp in years! and I love it. I like using Granny Smith apples, and want to give this recipe a whirl – it sounds delish!
Oh Yum! I want to make Apple Crisp again! Your recipe is amazing and really looks delicious. Thanks for sharing an easy recipe for me to make.
I’m not that fond of apples, but I’d make this with peaches. All the rest of the ingredients would be the same.
How do you come up with the nicest recipes!! And this one is so easy, too. There is something about crisps and crumbles that is so satisfyting to me. Maybe it’s blend of different textures. This is a definite for next week! The only change I’d make is just to reduce the cinnamon a drop, ’cause I’m not a fan of it. But I’ll be serving this – pinned & planned & happy! : )
What a simple recipe! I would love to make this. Crisps are one of my favorite desserts.
Thanks for sharing 🙂
