For many of us…the flu season is almost over, but that doesn’t mean that the sick season will end. Matter of fact, during this time of the year a lot of people get sick from colds, viruses, allergies and other type’s of infections. Just because the weather is warming up, doesn’t mean the germs take a vacation.
Let me introduce you to the Temporal Artery Thermometer by Exergen which makes temperature-taking a breeze! I’ve always wanted a temporal thermometer as I’ve seen them used repeatedly in doctor’s offices and hospitals for the past few years. On top of that, I’ve have 2 little ones in the house who don’t like thermometers in their mouth!
The TemporalScanner™ comes with four ways to make it even easier to take a temperature:
* A softly illuminated display for easy reading in any light – perfect for checking the temperature of a sleeping infant in a darkened room.
* Beeping sound indicating scanning can be turned off or on to avoid waking a sleeping child.
* Automatically retains the last eight temperature readings for instant recall to check on fever progression.
* Ability to switch between Fahrenheit and Celsius modes.
Made in the United States, the Exergen Smart Glow TemporalScanner™ is the number one preferred thermometer by both nurses and pediatricians, and is backed by more than 60 clinical studies proving its accuracy.
Plus, it was listed as one of the 25 smartest products of the decade by Inc. Magazine in December 2009. One of the things I love about it is that no probe covers are required! With my old oral thermometer, I was running through a pkg. of probe covers every 6-8 weeks! Not only does that get expensive, but I got tired of running out to buy them.
The TemporalScanner is super easy to use! Press & hold down the button. Lightly scan it across the forehead and release the button to read the temperature. The red LED lights & soft beep indicate the correct scan. In addition, it will take 1,000 readings per second, selecting the most accurate. How cool is that? Totally cool.
This must-have thermometer (temporal scanner) is sold in major retailers including Wal-Mart, Target, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Costco, Babies “R” Us, Toys “R” Us, Kroger and BJ’s.

I am going to have to buy one. Sounds great for a newborn with easy to see and beeping that you can turn off, but it really is for anyone. It’s nice that it keeps track of readings. I really like how quick and easy it is. I agree with you on buying the covers. They can be a pain and you often run out at the worst time. There was a time when our store was out for a long time, too. How convenient this is. Big positive for us is the Made in USA fact. It’s hard to find, but my husband really tries to. Thanks for such a thorough and great review.
Thanks for the nice comment Sherry. I’m a retired nurse and I can honestly tell you that it’s the best thermometer (for home use) that I’ve ever used or owned. It’s super easy to use and the kids don’t mind me using it on them. Heck, I use it on myself, hubby and my mom too.
I really appreciate knowing it is so good. I’ve been looking but it’s hard to know which to buy.
I used one of these when I was caring for a sick grandchild and what a relief it was for me to get an accurate temperature without all the fuss. Other ones I used were difficult and I was worried that I wasn’t doing it correctly. I will always use a temporal one from now on.
I like this Temporal Exergen thermometer because it is more hygienic, stores the last 8 readings and is easy to use. My husband won’t believe in it until he compares the readings to the older type of thermometer, but then he will be convinced!
A great item to have! As a caregiver, I have to record vitals daily. For TWO people! Way safer, and so much more hygienic than “under the tongie” even with the probe covers!
This would be easier to use on kids than those ear thermometers. I know I’ve had squirmy kids with the ear thermometers that were challenging. Hopefully the professional models go down in price a little. I know the basic ones can go on sale at times.
Thats kind of nifty. I have also seen them at the doctors office and liked how fast it was to take temp! I like how this stores the last eight times. Storing temps like that would make it so convenient rather than writing it down and would be far more accurate. Flu season is hitting hard in my area, this is prime time for it!
Thanks for the review. I’ve been through a lot of different thermometers and have yet to find one that works consistently and lasts longer than its batteries. I’ve been wondering how this type of thermometer really works, so it’s good to know of your experience with it.
