The Franklin Institute is one of Philadelphia’s biggest tourist attractions. Every year, millions of people visit the science education center and museum. It’s located in downtown Philly and easily reachable from most areas in and around the city.
From now through February 15th, 2016 visitors can experience more than 2,000 years of Vatican history. See more than 200 works of art and historically significant objects that together form a great mosaic of the history of the Church and its impact on art, history, and culture.
The Franklin Institute holds numerous educational programs, science programs and various other exhibits throughout the year. You can visit their web site for a complete list of current and upcoming attractions.
We had the opportunity to visit this fantastic place back in November of 2015 and today…I’m sharing with all of you two of the many photos that we took while we were there as part of my “Almost” Wordless Wednesday feature.
My husband and I are both Catholic and have been Catholic all of our lives. Seeing the Vatican Splendor exhibit was very special to us and inspirational. We had a great time visiting the Franklin Institute and plan on visiting again so that we can experience other exhibits and programs that they host throughout the year.
I’m not Catholic, but I think this would be really interesting. The history of the Vatican & the popes is really a huge part of European history, which I’ve always been interested in.
This sounds like a wonderful exhibit. I am sorry that it closed in February, but I still would love to visit the Franklin Institute and seethe other exhibits.
This would be a must-see for any Catholic, especially if there is no chance to getting to Rome. I remember seeing the Pietà at the 1964-65 NY World’s Fair. I will never seeing a sight like that, it was truly awe-inspiring, even though I am not Catholic.
How beautiful, I wish I lived nearby so taht I could see this exhibit. I adore ecclesiastical art.
I sure wish I lived closer. I would so love to see this exhibit. I could spend all day in there just reading and taking pictures and looking at the beautiful works of art. Thank you for sharing these amazing pictures.
