Many families are opting to pack their own travel-friendly snacks. Who can blame them? By packing your own you can save a lot of money and you can pack healthier choices than what is typically sold at a convenience store or gas station.
Not everything makes a great snack for traveling! You’ll want to stay away from chocolates (they melt in the heat) and avoid packing foods that require refrigeration.
Here is a list of our top favorite travel-friendly snacks.
* Welch’s Fruit Snacks
* Freeze-Dried Fruit
* Dried Fruit Chips (like banana chips)
* Beef and Turkey Jerky
* Beef Meat Sticks
* Protein Bars
* Sunflower Seeds
* Raisins
* Lightly Salted Pretzels
* Horizon Cheese Sandwich Crackers
* Hard Candies (peppermint hard candy is good for motion sickness)
* Granola Bars
* Loose Granola or Trail Mixes
* Go Organically Fruit Snacks
* Fruit Roll-ups
* Fresh Fruit (apples, bananas and oranges travel well)
* Mixed Nuts, Peanuts, Cashews, etc.
We also like to pack beverages too and will often select: Fruit Juices, Shelf Stable Milk, Bottled Water, Gatorade, Gingerale, Iced Tea, etc. We will purchase single-use bottles and cans. In addition, I like to freeze my bottled waters and use them as ice packs in my little cooler instead of packing ice packs. I can fit more beverages into it by doing it that way.

WE use a lot of these snacks and granola bars too. I would love to try the Go Organically fruit snacks.
My favorite travel snacks are pretzels and almonds! I love savory snacks and my hubby loves sweet snacks! Hubby would love to the tropical flavor of organic fruit snacks!
These look good and I also pack many of the same items for snacks that you do. We have snacks for the park and for when we go on car trips. I like the Welch’s go organically fruit snacks. Convenient and healthy.
Good choices. Lots of variety for different people and cravings. We pack a lot of these, too. We always take a bag of snacks for the car ride and for the hotel if staying in one. If staying in a hotel, you can bring your own cereal, oatmeal, or even popcorn. For the road, we do different types of bars from soft baked to Sweet and Salty. We also do nuts, beef jerky, packages of those mini muffins, and peanut butter crackers. My daughter also puts in a poptart package for her and her dad to share.
I like the idea of healthier snacks for my niece & nephews! Of course, I’ve been known to bring not so healthy snacks for myself when going to the movies, lol, because they’re so expensive there!
I’m all for healthier snacking. I like these Go Organically Fruit Snacks. I try to get some quality protein snacks and found it easy to carry portioned protein powder in a bottle so I can just add water. Not the most fun snack for a kid, but fuels you when you’re on the go.
These look so delicious! I’d love to eat these for snack, and so would my grandsons. Can’t wait to try the Fruit Medley!
These sounds so much better and healthier for my grandson than many of the products on the market that are full of dyes and additives.
I’ve never tried these before, but they look yummy!
We do this too, we are such green warriors that we pack’em in lunchskins.
