Getting Ready for Warmer Weather with Persil ProClean

Persil ProCleanWe own an older home and like most older homes…our bedrooms have very small closets. To solve our closet and clothing storage problem, my husband refinished our attic and built each of us a closet up there to store our seasonal clothing.

Every spring and fall season…I take an afternoon to switch out my seasonal clothing and get things ready for a brand new season. While it can be a pain in the butt…it’s something that I have to do.

Once I’ve selected the afternoon to do this, I go out and buy one of my favorite laundry detergents called Persil ProClean. It’s a premium laundry detergent that does a great job at removing stains, foul odors, dirt, etc. and gets all of your clothing items smelling fresh & clean. One entire bottle is enough to do all of our seasonal clothing!

I then take everything out of my closet and lay it across my bed. I then head up to the closets in the attic and bring all of our seasonal items down. I then put all of the items laying on our bed into the closets in the attic. This process takes me about 30 minutes since I’m not really a clothes hoarder at all.

All of the items that I bring down from the attic closets go into my laundry room and I start the process of washing up all of our seasonal items. Even though they were clean when they went into storage, they don’t smell fresh & clean when I take them out. I spend the rest of my day (sometimes 2 days) washing and drying all of our seasonal clothing and putting them away. Now we are ready to start a brand new season!

Here are a few tips to help you with your seasonal clothing storage and switch out:

* Now is a good time to clean out any items you need to get rid of or any items you no longer intend on wearing. Donate what you can and trash what you can’t.

* Inspect every item closely for damage. If you have pilling, bad stains, rips & tears, missing buttons, etc. Now is the time to set those items aside. Discard the items that can’t be fixed and move onto the next tip.

* Find an hour in your immediate schedule when you can sit down to repair your damaged items. You know…replace missing buttons, fix up a hem or repair a tear. The sooner you get on those repairs…the sooner you’ll wear that item again!

* When putting your freshly cleaned items away, make sure you are doing it properly! Sweaters and heavy knits should never be hung in a closet and should always be folded and placed in a drawer or on a shelf. Hanging them will cause them to stretch out and lose their shape.

* If you want to save some space in your closet, I suggest switching over to those velvet-coated, thin hangers. I switched over to them 3 years ago and got back about 40% of my closet space! Ditch all of those nasty plastic hangers and wooden hangers that take up too much space!

* Before putting things back into your closet…take out the time to give it a really good cleaning! Wipe down your shelving and closet rods. If you have carpeting, give it a good vacuuming. Once done, I like to use some odor removing sprays in my closet (like Febreze) and then I put my items inside. I love a fresh smelling closet!

* Do not use stinky and foul smelling products in your closets like moth balls and cedar chips. I’ve found that those items can “stink up” my clothing and there were times that I couldn’t get those foul odors out. In my honest opinion, ditch those products and don’t use them!

Well, there you have it. Some of my favorite tips when it comes to switching out our seasonal clothing twice a year. Plus, don’t forget to pick up some Persil ProClean Laundry Detergent so you can get all of your clothing looking and smelling great again!

At first I didn’t understand the title of this post, but now I get it. I’ve heard of Persil but didn’t realize how strong and good it is. This would be a big help in my family. My husband works on cards and around the house. We constantly have stained clothes and towels to wash. Plus, like you, we live in a home with tiny closets. It’s good to know there’s a product out there made to get rid of attic odors and musty smells.

I have heard about Persil ProClean , but have not yet tried it. I like all your tips about getting ready for the new season. I never thought about switching hangers and that is an idea I may implement.

  3. Funny you should mention moth balls. I was just thinking of them and how wretched they smelled (Mom used them in the 70s). I just won some clothes moth traps, which don’t smell. I also received yesterday, some great smelling detergent samples, so I’m ready for a change from my usual detergent brand.

  4. I was just thinking that it is near time to get out clothes for warmer weather and to put away some of my winter sweaters and pants. I always launder things that have been stored before wearing them. Have not seen or tried this particular laundry detergent before.

I had heard of Persil, but I don’t think I’ve tried it. It sounds like I ought to give it a try!

I’d never heard of Persil ProClean before, but It sounds worth a try, for sure. It seems to have worked well for you, and sure goes a long way for a premium product. And thanks for your tips on switching out the items for the seasonal change…but it is 27 degrees right now here in NYC, OMG! To think it was 72 on Christmas Eve!

  7. I’ve never used this kid of detergent before, but it sounds like a great product!

  9. (Getting Ready for Warmer Weather with Persil ProClean) I have used this laundry soap on our clothes and I was really surprised how well it cleaned even my husband’s work clothes.
