Raise your Glass with Santa Margherita Prosecco

Santa Margherita WineMany people think you need a special occasion to fill a champagne flute with something sparkling, but I say, bring on the bubbles! I absolutely am all about the bubbles and look forward to planning fun cocktail parties where I incorporate refreshing sparkling cocktails. I was recently introduced to Santa Margherita Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore and thought it was delightful and delicious. Like many people, I was familiar with Santa Margherita wines, specifically the Pinot Grigio (which has been a market leading wine for more than 50 years), but was pleasantly surprised when I found out they produced Prosecco as well.

The Santa Margherita Wine Group was founded by Count Gaetano Marzotto in 1935, which gradually developed into wineries and vineyards in some of Italy’s most beautiful regions. Santa Margherita has been headquartered in Vento for the past 80 years and is committed to creating wines that pair well with food and that appeal to a variety of different palates. The company is also dedicated to creating premium, top-quality wines and offers everything from sweet dessert wines, whites, and reds to the elegant and effervescent Prosecco. The full wine portfolio is available in 85 countries.

Lemoncello

Not only did I enjoy trying out the Santa Margherita Prosecco, but I enjoyed sharing it with my Prosecco Partner in Crime, Diana. We decided to have a “Sparkling Saturday,” which we like to do every few months or so. We are dedicated to the art of enjoying bubbles, and we usually enjoy our drinks with food. First of all, we decided to sip a little of the Prosecco to get a feel for the taste. My take is that it was slightly dry, yet still bright and light with hints of peach, apples and pineapple. This is a very well-balanced Prosecco that I think would be perfectly paired with some cheese and fruit–specifically strawberries, pomegranates and a cheese like a Robiola (a wonderful Italian soft cheese) or a Beemster Aged Gouda.

It’s also fun to get creative and make a cocktail concoction as well. We also decided to try one of the fantastic recipes that Santa Margherita shared and we created a cocktail called the Show Stopping Limoncello, which was inspired by the movie awards season but is perfect anytime! It was very easy to make and tasted so delicious. It has a gold dusted sugar rim! Fancy schmancy. Here’s the recipe:

Show Stopping Lemoncello

Use water or lemon juice around the rim of your glass
Dip and turn the rim in the sugar
Fill wine flute with Santa Margherita Prosecco (not quite to the top –leave a little room)
Add a splash of Limoncello and a lemon twist if desired.

Overall, this Prosecco is a well-balanced, clean and crisp sparkling wine that is great to serve at parties, brunches or to share with your girlfriends on Sparkling Saturday.

  1. I like Prosecco especially in the spring and summer because it is so light and sparkling. Plus it goes well with so many fruit and cheeses that it makes for a wonderful drink to have with some appetizers.

This sounds like a delightful Prosecco wine and I often like sparkling wines more than champagne. The drink with the lemoncello sounds very good too. You both look like you are enjoying yourselves!

  3. This wine sounds super good and one that I would love to try. I would also love to make some lemoncellos thanks for the directions. Lemoncellos would be great for a small cocktail party. Thanks for sharing and have a nice day.
