Movie Review: Sisters – Starring Tina Fey and Amy Poehler

Sisters - Starring Tina FeyComedy superstars Tina Fey (“30 Rock,” “SNL”) and Amy Poehler (“Parks and Recreation,” “SNL”) reunite in Sisters, the uproarious hit coming to Digital HD on March 1, 2016, and Blu-ray™, DVD and On Demand on March 15, 2016, from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment. From Pitch Perfect director Jason Moore, Sisters is a “hilarious, heartfelt and downright dysfunctional” (Rama’s Screen) delight, perfect to share with friends — and relatives. The Blu-ray™, DVD and Digital HD versions feature even more of Tina and Amy’s outrageous shenanigans in a new Unrated Version, as well as over an hour of deleted and extended scenes, gag reel and more!

When the Ellis sisters, the always-responsible Maura (Poehler) and impossibly hotheaded Kate (Fey), receive word from their retired mom and dad that their family home is on the market, they discover they have one weekend left to clean out the old junk in their bedroom. As they comb through the artifacts of their teen years, Maura and Kate’s trip down memory lane leads them to a seemingly crazy plan. Looking to recapture their glory days, the sisters throw one final ”Ellis Island” blowout for their classmates, resulting in the cathartic rager that a bunch of ground-down adults really need.

My Thoughts: Okay, I have to admit. I’m not a HUGE fan of comedy movies or tv shows but this movie…it’s incredibly funny! Not only is it side-splitting funny, it has a great story line and fabulous acting too!  My hubby is a huge fan of Saturday Night Live, so we’ve been watching Tina Fey and Amy Poehler for years on that show but trust me, they both do an excellent job in this particular movie, their best one yet if you ask me!

These two sisters have a totally dysfunctional relationship but you can tell that they really do love each other. I’ve enjoyed seeing their relationship evolve and how they compete with one another in this movie but do so in a very loving & funny way. In real life, I think these two could be sisters because they sure do act that way in this movie…like a secret sister bond or something.

From beginning to end…you’ll be laughing throughout this movie and I think you’ll be thoroughly entertained, I know I was! If you’re typically not a big fan of comedy, I think you’ll enjoy this one because of the relatable sibling story line and because of the high caliber acting within the movie.
