How many of you love waffles? I know we do! We love a variety of homemade waffles for breakfast but we also make waffles for dinner too! With that said, we do NOT buy frozen waffles at the grocery store and prefer to make our own.
The following recipe is a basic waffles recipe that will make approximately 5 waffles. If you like them a little sweet, you can add 1-2 tablespoons of maple syrup to the batter before cooking them.
Easy Homemade Waffles Recipe
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 cups milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
Preheat your waffle iron until it’s hot and ready to go.
In a large mixing bowl sift together the all-purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt until combined. In a separate mixing bowl mix together the milk, vegetable oil and large eggs. Pour the wet mixture into the dry mixture until everything is well-combined.
Pour waffle batter onto your hot griddle (waffle iron), close and heat until it’s golden brown. Remove and serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
We like topping ours with one or more of the following: maple syrup, butter, honey butter, blueberry syrup or fresh fruits.

Shelly, what kind of waffle-maker do you have? Do you love it? Would you buy something different if you could? I’m researching what to buy and i would love your input (seriously).
Well, I’m going ahead and buying one today without your advice (:;sniff::). I’ll let you know what happens!
Sorry…I didn’t see your comment until now. I’ve got 2 of them…one is a black & decker and one is from Cuisinart. I like both basically the same…but if I had to choose…prob. the Black & Decker. I got mine at Best Buy
I think I will try this using whole wheat flour
That recipe looks good.I wonder if you can try it with whole wheat
Now, I’m craving waffles & syrup, lol. It’s been too long since I’ve made any & the frozen things just don’t taste as good, so maybe I’ll give these a try.
Waffles are one of our special breakfast or brunch choices. I especially like them for holiday get togethers because everyone can have their choice of toppings. Looks like a nice easy recipe.
It has been a long time since I made waffles. I still have the old iron waffle maker. I gave the electric one to my older son. This is very similar to my recipe except sometimes I added cinnamon or lemon rind to the batter.
I would love to make waffles, but don’t have a waffle iron. I think I should ask for one for a birthday present. I’m thinking great breakfast, but also ice cream sandwiches in the summer!
I also haven’t had waffles in years. Do not have a waffle maker. Should order some next time I visit the Pancake house.
Maple syrup in the batter BEFORE making the wallless? Genius!! I do indeed have a waffle maker, but I don’t use it nearly enough. I like that your recipe doesn’t require the egg whites to be whipped separately and folded into the batter. Thanks. (P.S. I hope you’re feeling better!)
Um,, that should be “waffles” and not “wallless.” Darn autocorrect! Sorry.
I have not had waffles in years. Growing up we always had pancakes rather than waffles. I do have a pizzelle maker though–I know very different, but I haven’t a waffle maker. They would be a nice treat for a brunch though.
