My little grand daughter loves cookies, all different kinds but one of her absolute favorites are my Chocolate Chip and M&M Cookies. When she comes over to my house…these are the first ones she requests. One of the things that I think make these cookies so awesome is the addition of the sour cream into the batter. Second, I use butter, not margarine when I bake them so they always have a nice buttery flavor.
If you want to get the perfectly round shape…buy a whoopie pie pan and bake cookies in that. I love how I can get consistently round shapes when using that pan! You can also use a muffin tin but they would be much smaller in size. Here’s the recipe!
Chocolate Chip and M & M Cookies Recipe
1 cup vegetable shortening
1 cup butter, softened
2 cups brown sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup sour cream
1 1/4 cups milk chocolate chips
1 cup of M & M chocolate coated candies
Mix all ingredients together in the order that they are given in the recipe. Drop by the teaspoonful onto a cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes or until done. Remove from the oven and place on a cooling rack to cool. Once done, store them in an airtight container.

I will have to make these with my granddaughter next. She loves to bake cookies with grandma! We usually just make chocolate chip but I bet she would love the M&Ms added. We also bake cupcakes which is fun too.
I love chocolate chip cookies and I love M&M’s, so this is the perfect recipe for me to try. I have not used sour cream in my chocolate chip cookies in the past so I am curious to see what difference it makes in the taste.
I just mixed up a batch of chocolate chip cookies today. You have no idea how many cookies we go through here, lol. My niece & nephews love homemade cookies.
