Cape May Lighthouse

If you have been following this blog…you already know that my husband and I spend a lot of our time down at the Jersey Shore on the Wildwood island from May through October every year. If you have never visited the area…you are really missing out on some gorgeous coastal views of the beautiful Atlantic ocean.

During one of our recent trips we decided to play “tourists” and visit the Cape May Lighthouse down in Cape May New Jersey. This lighthouse is one of the most famous lighthouses in the United States, especially on the eastern seaboard and it’s just a beautiful place to visit.

The park is FREE to visit and offers FREE parking. If you want to climb the steps and tour the inside of the lighthouse, you will have to pay an admission fee. With that said, you can walk all around the lighthouse and visit their indoor educational building for FREE to look at some of their exhibits and learn about the local history and those who live there.

There are a few covered and uncovered picnic areas, a boardwalk platform that you can walk on and take a look at the ocean and take a peek at some of the shorebirds who live there. If you want to spend some time on the beach, there is beach access there too! It’s a really nice place to visit on the southern most tip of New Jersey.
