Cape May Lighthouse

Cape May Lighthouse in New JerseyIf you have been following this blog…you already know that my husband and I spend a lot of our time down at the Jersey Shore on the Wildwood island from May through October every year. If you have never visited the area…you are really missing out on some gorgeous coastal views of the beautiful Atlantic ocean.

During one of our recent trips we decided to play “tourists” and visit the Cape May Lighthouse down in Cape May New Jersey. This lighthouse is one of the most famous lighthouses in the United States, especially on the eastern seaboard and it’s just a beautiful place to visit.

The park is FREE to visit and offers FREE parking. If you want to climb the steps and tour the inside of the lighthouse, you will have to pay an admission fee. With that said, you can walk all around the lighthouse and visit their indoor educational building for FREE to look at some of their exhibits and learn about the local history and those who live there.

There are a few covered and uncovered picnic areas, a boardwalk platform that you can walk on and take a look at the ocean and take a peek at some of the shorebirds who live there. If you want to spend some time on the beach, there is beach access there too! It’s a really nice place to visit on the southern most tip of New Jersey.

Well, there you have it! My “Almost” Wordless Wednesday post for this week. I hope you enjoy the photo and the little bit of information about it.

This looks like a nice lighthouse to visit. I like that the park and educational building are free to enter. I mioght pay to see the view from the widow’s walk on the top.

  2. I find lighthouses fascinating and there always seems to be so much history and stories connected to them What a fabulous photo and sounds like a nice place to visit and take walks on the beach.

  3. What a pretty lighthouse! And how nice that they offer so much access for free. There’s just something special about lighthouses. I’ve seen a few here in Maine, and each is beautiful in its own way. Thanks for sharing the photo and your experience at the Cape May Lighthouse.

Nice picture! I’ve always liked lighthouse photos for some reason. I’ve never seen Cape May but I’ve heard of it, obviously, & I’d love to see it.

  5. This is a wonderful place to see – I would love to see it. And that you can go there free and park free is a miracle today! I’ve never been to the Jersey shore, hopefully someday!

  6. I think I”ve only seen one lighthouse in my life. Probably since I live so far from the oceans.
