Every week I like to sit down with my grandchildren and read books to them or have my grand daughter read books to us. It’s extremely important that we instill the love for reading to our children or grandchildren at a very early age.
We love storybooks, picture books, activity books and we really enjoy reading any type of educational book like the kind you find with National Geographic Kids. For this book review, we received the following:
Title: National Parks Guide U.S.A.
By: National Geographic Kids
ISBN: 978-1-4263-2314-0
Cover Price: $14.99 U.S.A.
Book Synopsis: National Geographic Kids National Parks Guide U.S.A. takes kids on a journey to National Parks across the United States, divided neatly by region: East, West, Southwest and Midwest. Each region is broken down park-by-park with maps showing visitor centers and other attractions, lists of must-do activities, fun facts and more, the perfect road trip companion. Young explorers will especially delight in the parks of special interest, such as “spooky” sites like Alcatraz or Great Sand Dunes National Park, known for its UFO sightings. The guide also aims to raise preservation awareness, offering conservation tips and detailing the best parks in which to spot endangered species like gray wolves and California condors. Color photographs, packing checklists and suggested bicycling & spelunking excursions round out this comprehensive guide.
My Thoughts: We take our 6 1/2 year old grand daughter traveling with us on a regular basis. Matter of fact, she’s quite the seasoned traveler at her young age. When we travel, I like to get educational travel books like this for her to read right before we go or for her to read while we’re traveling. They keep her entertained and she loves getting ideas from the travel books on things for us to see and do while we’re there.
The National Geographic Kids National Parks Guide U.S.A. is the most comprehensive national parks book for kids that I’ve ever seen! The book covers National Parks in the United States and several U.S. territories like Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. There are National Parks in this book that I’ve heard of and many that I haven’t…so it was a great learning experience for me too!
This book is absolutely fantastic and the kids can really learn a lot by reading it. The photography and photos are beautiful, and everything is laid out in an easy-to-read format. We give it a big 2-thumbs up!
