Just in time to catch up before Season 5, Emmy® nominee and Golden Globe winner Lena Dunham returns for the fourth season of the Emmy®- and Golden Globe-winning comedy series Girls. Starring and created by Dunham and executive produced by Judd Apatow and Jenni Konner, the series follows the misadventures of a group of twenty-something friends in and out of NYC.
his season finds the girls tentatively edging towards maturity as they take on new personas in new worlds. As the season begins, Hannah (Dunham) leaves New York to attend the prestigious Iowa Writers’ Workshop in the hopes of becoming a more serious writer, while confronting uncertainty in her relationship with Adam (Adam Driver). Meanwhile, back in New York, Marnie (Allison Williams) pursues a music career while balancing her professional and romantic relationship with Desi (Ebon Moss-Bachrach); Shoshanna (Zosia Mamet) graduates and begins interviewing for jobs, while sorting out her relationship with Ray (Alex Karpovsky); and Jessa (Jemima Kirke) is trying out sobriety through AA, though her ability to stir up drama remains undiminished. By turns hilarious and heartbreaking, this season’s 10 episodes offer up some unexpected twists, as the girls of Girls continue to hunt for success – creatively, professionally and romantically – in New York City and beyond.
My Thoughts: I’ve been bored with TV lately and when I was given the opportunity to review the complete fourth season of Girls from HBO…I jumped on it. I’ve always enjoyed TV series like this one but since I don’t have HBO, I haven’t been able to watch it, until now.
One of the things I enjoy about this series is that all 4 of the main characters are females. In addition, some of the characters are very strong and others have flaws. It’s been interesting to see these characters work on their flaws and at times help one another through problems and life. The problems that these ladies go through are some of the same problems that many of us go through at some point in our lives. In other words, there are no “unbelievable” story lines within the series that I saw.
I’ve been really drawn to the character Hannah since she is a writer and I’m a writer too. In addition, she has relationship problems (I don’t) but it’s been interesting & fun to see her try to deal with those problems as she handles her own career. Actually, all four of these characters are interesting in their own way.
Girls: The Complete Fourth Season is available for purchase starting on February 16th, 2016. It’s also available on digital download and blu-ray DVD.
