Expecting moms are super vigilant about the skin care products they use during those all important months before birth. But it’s also important to pay attention while nursing. Even though the skin is a barrier to many substances, there are some topical ingredients that can be absorbed into the bloodstream, and carry the risk of being passed on through breast milk.
One company, Belli, even LACTMED screens all of its skin care products for body and face to eliminate any potentially harmful chemicals. LACTMED, part of the National Library of Medicine’s Toxicology Data Network (TOXNET) is a database of drugs and other chemicals to which breastfeeding mothers may be exposed. It includes information on the levels of such substances in breast milk and infant blood, and the possible adverse effects on nursing infants.
As you all know, I had a little boy back in September 2015 and I’m nursing him until he’s at least 1 year old, maybe a little longer. Since I’m still nursing, I’m only using bath, body and skin care products that are natural as I don’t want any harmful chemicals on/in my body that can pass into him.
Belli sent me 3 of their products to try out for all of you and even my grandmother Carol got in on the “testing” action. Here is what I received:
Belli All Day Moisture Body Lotion – This body lotion contains lemon oil, chamomile and vitamin E. It relieves dry skin and really helps to moisturize and smooth your skin. It’s OB/GYN and Dermatologist recommended. You simply apply the lotion all over your body once every day. One of the things that my grandmother and I love about it is that is has a light lemon fragrance to it. Smells super good and it does indeed do a great job at moisturizing my skin.
Belli Healthy Glow Facial Hydrator – This facial moisturizer contains vitamin C, grape seed and chamomile as part of it’s ingredients. It’s OB/GYN and Dermatologist recommended. This product will moisturize and illuminate your facial skin and comes in a pump-style bottle for easy application. I really love the consistency of this product, it’s very light and not heavy at all. My grandmother has been using it too and she definitely has signs of aging and she likes using it too!
Belli Sheer Comfort Lip Balm – This lip balm is one of the best that I’ve ever used! It contains ultra-purified lanolin and is OB/GYN and Dermatologist recommended. It will moisturize dry and cracked lips and soothe any discomfort you may have. It comes in a little squeeze tube that you can keep in your handbag, diaper bag, desk drawer or toss it into your pocket. It’s so gentle that I’ve been using it on my 6 year old daughter’s chapped lips too. It’s amazing stuff!
All three of the Belli Skincare products that I was sent for this review are absolutely amazing! They are all-natural products that are good for your skin and are completely safe for pregnant and nursing mothers to use. Even if you are not pregnant or nursing, they are great products for any woman who wants to step into the world of using natural skin care and beauty products.
