22 Coastal Beach Home Decor Decorating Ideas

22 Coastal Home Decor Decorating IdeasI love decorating my home in a coastal and beach style. I like to hunt down unique pieces that have meaning to me and I love making my own things when I have the time. Decorating in a coastal style doesn’t have to break the bank. You can find pieces that are reasonably priced or very easy to make…just like the items I’m featuring in my post today.

When doing a coastal and beach style in your home it’s important to update all of your home’s curtains and drapes to go with your theme. We really like the look of Banana Leaf Curtains which come in a variety of different styles, sizes and colors. They can really change and enhance the look of any room in your home!

All of these items are affordable to buy and/or affordable to make. They are ALL pieces that I personally own and have throughout my home. Here are 22 Great Coastal Beach Decorating Ideas.

Coastal Patio Table and Chairs

On my front porch I have 2 bistro chairs. I bought them at the flea market for $10.00 and they were originally black. I painted them white and purchased 2 round chair cushions from my local Christmas Tree Store that are in a beach theme’d print. In between the two chairs I have a cement bird bath that I use as a little table and sometimes I sit a flower basket which also looks nice.

Seashell Coastal Shower Curtain

In my one guest bathroom I have this pretty coastal & beach themed shower curtain which I’ve owned for about 5 years. I believe I picked it up from Kmart and it was on clearance so I didn’t pay much for it. I also picked up the matching shower curtain hooks. I love the neutral background with just small hints of color.

Seabird and Seashells Bathroom Towel Holder

In that same guest bathroom I have a wooden towel rack that I picked up at a craft show when we were vacationing down at the Jersey Shore. That crafty artist sold it to me for $10.00 which I think was a fabulous deal. It looks beautiful with everything else that I have in that bathroom and again, I love the neutral color palette.

Coastal Wall Arrangement

In my living room I have this arrangement on one of my bigger walls. Sorry the coloring is off on this photo but we had a storm blow through and my power was out. The large framed artwork in the center I received for a review from Fulcrum Gallery. The print is called “Path to the Ocean” and I just love it! You can read my original review on it HERE.  I bought the wooden ship’s wheel down at a home decor store at the Jersey Shore for $10.00 and the wooden sand bucket with seashells also at the same store for $8.00. Right above that is a 3-dimensional flameless candle that is in a starfish motif. I used a tiny nail to hang it up and at night it automatically turns on and glows for 4 hours. It’s on a timer and I just love it! I got it from QVC and it was part of a 3 piece beach flameless candle set. The other 2 candles are in my master bathroom.

Beach Starfish Wall Art

In my master bedroom I have the 3 items featured above. I have them on one of the slender walls in that room. The top item measures 14″ by 14″ square, the middle item is the same size but is a photo frame and the large starfish underneath both of them is about 12″ in diameter. To get the starfish to stay on the wall…I simply glued a thumb tack on the back of it, left it dry and then pushed it into the wall. Worked perfectly and I’ve done it many times to hang other sea items onto the wall. All 3 items were obtained while on vacation down at the Jersey Shore and total cost for all three items $45.00.

Seashells and Hydrangeas Cross Stitch Wall Art

In that same room is the item you see above. I purchased a cross-stitch kit about 8 years ago from Michael’s Craft Store. It took me an entire 6 months to get it stitched up and once it was done…I took it in and had it matted and framed. I believe it was a Dimensions craft kit if I’m not mistaken.

Coastal Shore Wall Arrangement

On another wall in my master bedroom I have the 2 items you see above. The large 14″ by 18″ framed coastal wall art was purchased at the discount store called Gabriel’s. It was marked down on clearance for $10.00 which was a super deal! Beside that is a genuine driftwood, seashell and starfish vertical swag. I picked that up at a craft show for $15.00 and just love it because it’s made with genuine shells.

Coastal Seashore Wall Arrangment

One of the things that I picked up last year while down at the Jersey Shore was this 3-piece resin wall plaque set. Each one measures about 11″ tall by 4 1/2″ wide. I got the 3-piece set on clearance for $12.00 at a home decor store that was going out of business. The adorable little sailboat you see hanging above the plaques is really a coastal holiday ornament. I bought it down in Cape May and was going to hang it on my tree. However, there is NOTHING Christmas about it and decided to hang it on my way above those plaques and it really brings out the light teal colors beautifully.

Beach Coastal Wall Arrangment

Several years ago I purchased another cross stitch kit from Michael’s Craft Store for $7.00 and it took me about a month to complete. I framed it in a vanilla colored picture frame and just hung it up onto my wall. Total cost about $20.00. To the right of that are 2 resin square shaped plaques $12.00 and to the left of that another resign square shaped plaque that I paid $4.00 for. The wall plaques were picked up the past couple of years on various trips to the Jersey Shore.

Seaside Delightful Days Wall Art

Above the entryway into my master bathroom is a small wall space. I decided to hang the wooden beach SEASIDE arrow wall hanging there. I paid $8.00 for it at a craft show. It was kind of plain looking so I glued on a 5″ diameter star fish and that really spruced it up! I love how it looks and it fits into that small space above the entry door into the bathroom perfectly!

Beach House Plaque Coastal Decor

Recently from the Grandparents Gifts Company I got this adorable Nanny and Pappy’s Beach House Wall Plaque which can also sit/stand on a mantel, desktop or shelf. I decided to sit mine (instead of hanging it via the attached rope hanger) on the top of my entertainment center. In front of it is a glass fish bowl with real sand, tiny seashells, a piece of coral and my real AIR PLANT. I love the look of that because it reminds me of sea grass. Coastal Beach Rain Umbrellas

Finally…this last item isn’t really a home decor piece but I wanted to show it off anyway. It’s a beautiful beach scene rain umbrella that I got 3 or 4 years ago from a review I did right here on the blog. Every time I use that rain umbrella…people pay me compliments on it and ask me where I got it. It’s gorgeous! You can read my original review on this gorgeous rain umbrella HERE.

Well, there you have it! 22 Fabulous Coastal and Beach items that I have in and round my home. All of these pieces were affordable and I love their casual beach style!

Cute umbrella, and I love how you keep the beach theme going throughout your house. I love the beach, too but only have it in my master bedroom and the bath is palm trees. I like the flow of yours and how each piece really fits perfectly. You have quite the eye. I love your master bedroom arrangements, and how creative on getting the starfish to stick on the wall.

  7. I have a few coastal decorations packed away in my apt, as my guest bath in a former house was decorated this way. I love how inexpensive it is to collect and upcycle things for this decor. These ideas and accessories are lovely.

I especially like the bird bath as a table. That’s a pretty neat idea! The starfish is great, too. Coastal decor always makes me feel a little warmer (even in Winter!)–maybe because it brings back memories of Summer beaches.

  9. If I only had a beach house! I do have what you are calling coastal decor in my bathroom. I love your handpainted signs!
