Treat your Pup to BarkBox

January 7, 2016 by Kristine

BarkBoxLast month our fur baby, Colby, received a BarkBox to check out and let me tell you, it definitely had his tail wagging! If you haven’t heard about BarkBox, you (and your four-legged friends) are in for a treat. BarkBox is a subscription-based delivery of 4 to 6 natural treats and awesome toys curated around a surprise theme each month. The team at BarkBox paw-picks the best all-natural treats and innovative toys to match a dog’s unique needs, including allergies.

BarkBox started in 2011 by Bark & Co, and only works with vendors who care deeply about the health and happiness of dogs. The company is committed to making dogs happy, even those who don’t have a human to call their own. They support shelters, rescues and non-profits across the US that help dogs find their forever homes. This is especially close to my heart, as we are currently fostering a rescue dog. I have a feeling he’ll be part of our pack very soon.

We received our BarkBox last month (before Colby had to SHARE all of his treats and toys) and he was thrilled with everything inside. Colby is a medium size dog, so he received the “just right” box, which is customized for dogs that are 20-50 lbs. There are two other dog sizes to choose from to ensure you get the right type of goodies for your pal. We were all excited to see what was in our box—it had a fall theme to it (Harvest) and contained the following items:

• Leaf-on-a-Rope – a BarkMade exclusive (featured product of the month) that was by far Colby’s favorite thing in the box. This toy is totally multifunctional with ropes and squeakers galore! It’s a very thick, well-stitched toy with no stuffing for those dogs that really like to pull and chew. This toy is perfect for tug of war!

• PetSafe Hive Toy – this is a treat/kibble dispensing toy that has openings at both ends. It’s a fairly big toy, but has a pretty small opening at each end, but you can adjust the openings to be a little bigger, depending on your dog and their ability to actually remove the treats for inside the toy.

• Nature’s Bits Bison with Apples & Peaches Dog Treats – definitely a winner at our house, these soft treats are a favorite of Colby (and the new guy, Winston, who is picky). They are made in the U.S., are grain-free, gluten-free and soy-free. Winner winner, Bison dinner!

• Holiday Hamwich Honey Baked Ham Dog Treats – these little heart shaped grain-fee ham biscuits are the perfect size, are crunchy and made in the U.S., but are unfortunately not favorite of either pooch in my house.

• SawMill Creek Pig Ears – this is a super-tough and tasty treat for those dogs that love to chew. My dog is a big fan of these and while I don’t give him pig ears very often, he did enjoy this one down to the last nub.

There are several options for the monthly subscription box ranging from a 12 month subscription ($19 per box), 6 month subscription ($21 a month), 3 month subscription ($24 a month) and one month ($29). Each box can contain 4 -6 items depending on the month. It’s super simple to get things going—you simply choose the dog size, choose the plan and then wait for your pup’s special delivery. There’s even a BarkBox app that will help you order additional items that your dog just can’t live without! Overall, the whole BarkBox experience will get your dog’s tail wagging and you’ll get introduced to a wide assortment of different and unique toys and treats.

This was a Great Review I really enjoyed this one!! I am an animal lover. I love my Fur Babies with all my Heart! I want to make them Happy anyway I Can.. We Make their own food usually LEAN ground meat, Brown Rice, Carrots, Broccolli, and Lima Beans and or Green Beans.. They love it and they look Great!! We usually make a 30 day supply and freeze it in containers. These Bark Boxes seem to be filled with only the Best in Toys and Snacks.. If I were to order them I would just order 1 Box a Month. I dog weighs about 13 lbs and the other weighs about 25 lbs. I suppose I would do the medium Dog size. Again thankyou for the informative review! 🙂

I love that this company supports shelters and if 8 still had a dog I would definitely want to spoil her with this subscription. Animals are part of our family and these pets need to be shown love in different ways.

This is so much fun! Our doggie, Atticus would love it! He’d also get this size. I think it’s a fun way to try new products to see what they love. My dog is pretty finicky.

I would love to get this for our dogs. I would also love to get this for my best friend’s dog. I think this is a super cute idea and would make a great gift. Your dog is WAY WAY beyond cute and should be in commercials.
