Shimmer the Glowworm Children's Book

My Thoughts: Shimmer the Glowworm Finds Her Glow is a beautiful soft-cover children’s book my author Shelby Herman. I not sure what the recommended ages are for the book but my 6 1/2 year old grand daughter and 7 year old god-son have no issues reading the book and fully understand the story line and it’s meaning.

As an adult…I love the meaning behind the story and I think it flows nicely from beginning to end. The illustrations that are done by Natalie Kelly are beautiful and very colorful. They definitely grab the reader’s eye.

After Shimmer the Glowworm leaves the cave and heads out on her journey to find her glow…she meets some adorable characters along the way. For example: You’ll meet Ollie the Owl, Cray the Lizard, Kiki the Kangaroo and several others. Personally, I’m an owl lover, so I loved Ollie the best!

To go along with this fabulous children’s book is a Singalong Video on YouTube that you can check out. The video gives you a nice glimpse inside the pages of the book!

What a great message with cute characters! I like teaching kids about helping others and thinking of others. Glowworm caught my attention. My daughter had a gloworm toy as a child. One you pressed to make glow. I believe they’ve brought them back now, and how cute it would be to have a nice story to go with it.

That’s a really message in there. Helping others find their glow is what helps you glow. I wonder if there’s a book like this for adults? I know quite few grownups that would profit greatly from a message like this!

  7. Sounds like a great book with a great message! Our son’s nickname is Ollie so I’m sure he’ll love Ollie the Owl!
