A Taste of Utah: The Culinary Arts and Food Tours of Park City

January 23, 2016 by Carol

Park City and the Culinary ArtsIf you’re in Park City just for the sport and art, you’re missing out on its appreciation for the culinary arts. The city has an affinity for great food. Visitors and locals take advantage of a number of culinary schools, food tours, and culinary retreats. Get ready for a taste of Utah!

Park City and the Culinary Arts

Park City has more chefs per capita than Paris. The city hosts over 100 restaurants, which caters to palates from all over the world. So it’s no surprise that it is a prime location to go to culinary school. The Park City Culinary Institute keeps students engaged with fun and fresh classes, which enables them to succeed in any type of restaurant environment. Whether you want to learn to cook better for friends or family or prepare for a serious career in the culinary field, the institute trains some of the nation’s and world’s finest cooks.

Aside from the institute, one can gain a culinary education at UVU. UVU offers premier training for those interested in a professional career in cooking and baking. The program teaches small classes so instructors can provide individualized attention. The culinary program teaches students to cook and bake in addition to introducing them to an array of foods and styles from around the world. Instruction covers sanitation, professional dining room service, menu planning, nutrition, and purchasing. Students prepare for a career in working as a line cook, baker, or mid-level manager.

Park City Food Tours

Who better to take you on a tour than local residents?! Locals share their appreciation of the cultural and historical aspects of Main Street. Tours allow for entrance into several restaurants, beautiful art exhibitions, relaxing spas, and more from one of Utah’s most memorable thoroughfares. Main Street is less than 15 minutes from Deer Valley rentals and Canyons resorts.

When entering a restaurant, those taking the tours experience the ambiance, style, and taste that makes a particular venue unique. It helps take the guesswork out of the equation for those visiting the area; those on tour experience the city’s food just like a local. Most of the restaurants are locally-owned and operated to provide a truly authentic appeal.

Culinary Retreats and Gourmand Tours

Aside from majestic mountains and the remote location, people come to Park City to treat their palate. Explore the culinary side of the city, where you can engage in hands-on cooking while tasting true mountain cuisine.

The owner of the gourmand tour has a knack for great food. She is a history buff, socialite, and knows where to find the tastiest dishes in the city. During the tour, you’ll be taken to some of the top-rated restaurants in the area. Each restaurant will reveal its philosophy, secrets, history, and (of course) its tastiest dishes.

During the tour, you’ll learn about the history of Park City and get a peek inside the Park City museum. Mingle with others on tour while you taste delicious, curated selections from around the city.

I’ve never been to Utah, but Park City is a place I’ve heard of. It would be a nice place to see, & I’d be much more interested in the food than the sports!

I was not aware of the marvelous culinary arts opportunities in Park City. I was last in Utah as a child , but if I were to return I would make sure to take a culinary sports tour as well as seeing the beautiful monuments and parks.
