During the fall season my family loves to get together and watch a wide variety of sports on TV. Our family loves watching NFL football, NBA basketball and NHL hockey during the fall & winter seasons. Then when spring rolls around we are watching MLB and more NBA Basketball. Sports are a year-round thing in our home! When the family all gathers are our house…everyone brings a few homemade dishes to share with the cheering crowd.
Recently this recipe was sent over to me to share with my blog readers. The recipe is courtesy of Terra’s Kitchen.
Terra Kitchen’s Beer-Infused Game Day Mustard Recipe
1/4 cup dry mustard
1 teaspoon turmeric
1/2 cup beer (we like a pale lager)
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon vinegar
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon sugar (optional)
In a medium metal or pyrex mixing bowl, whisk together the mustard, turmeric and beer. Cover and refrigerate overnight. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, add enough water to come up the sides 2-inches and bring to a simmer. Whisk in the remaining ingredients to the mustard mixture and set over the pan of simmering water. Cook, whisking constantly until the mixture begins to thicken (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat and allow to cool before transferring to a jar with a lid and refrigerating. TK Beer-Infused Game Day Mustard keeps refrigerated for 2 weeks.

My husband and sons love spicy mustard so I think this would be a great recipe for them to make and enjoy as they watch those football games. Add a few other snacks and they will be set for the weekend.
My hubby would love this, so I need to make it! Thanks for sharing this with us!

I have never tried to make my own mustard. The beer infused flavor will delight all the men in my family.
I love having goodies like this around for game day in our house. We love mustards and I never dreamed that it was this easy to make my own. I like that you included that it lasts in the refrigerator for two weeks. I am a crazy person when it comes to making sure that all of or food is dated in the refrigerator for safety reasons. Thanks for sharing this recipe I will try it out. Have a great rest of the holiday weekend and Happy New Year.
looks great we are have to try it. I do prefer made from scratch food it’s just taste much much better
Oh I have to try this
It does look interesting. I think it would go over well with the guys. I’m not a beer fan, but I do like beer bread (no need to let it rise as the beer has yeast in it), so maybe beer bread with beer mustard, lol??
I’ve never used dry mustard before or tried making my own, but this sounds like a good way to liven up the usual taste! The added turmeric would also be a healthy plus as well.
I absolutely love mustard, all mustard…on sandwiches, even to dip pretzels into. The beer-infused and other specialty mustard at the grocery store are always very expensive. This looks like a great way to make my own gourmet mustard. I bet that this recipe would be delicious with white wine replacing the beer as well.
I don’t like drinking beer, but I love the concept of using it in recipes. This sounds like a great low fat way to have a nice condiment!
I have never considered making my own mustard. We do not drink beer or ales here, though. Is there a way to adjust it? Or would it still tasted good without it?
This looks awesome. I love all different kinds of mustard and started trying different recipes to give it a kick. I can’t wait to give this a try with some ham! Thanks for posting.
I like a good brown mustard and this looks like too much work for me. Maybe since I don’t watch any sports….
Now this is something I am definitiely going to prepare. I assume the alcohol in the beer gets cooked off? I like the taste of a lager, too, except we are not drinkers. But I love fancy condiments, and this won sure sounds like a winner. We’ll make good use of this! Pinned and planned. Roll Tide!
