Family Fun at the Arcade

Arcade Games on Wildwood BoardwalkWow…my first “Almost” Wordless Wednesday post for 2016. Last year just flew by and here we are…in a brand new year! Welcome 2016.

One of the things I love about “Almost” Wordless Wednesday is that its a chance for all of you to get to know my family. I can show you small peeks at some of the things we like to do and places we like to visit. It’s a little window into Shelly’s world.

Today’s photo is one that I took in late summer of last year while the family was down in Wildwood. We love visiting our beach house and try to do it several times a year. Often times we take our little grand daughter along with us now that she’s older and doesn’t need a lot of supervision.

On one particular HOT afternoon we decided to spend some time at one of the arcades on the boardwalk in Wildwood. My family loves to get together and challenge one another to a few of the classic style arcade games.

The photo I’m featuring today is of my husband and little grand daughter playing the classic air hockey game. She absolutely LOVES playing air hockey because we have one in our own home in our game room. She’s starting to get really good at it and she’s only 6 1/2 years old.

Does your family love to go out and play some of the classic arcade games? Did you play these types of games when you were younger? Got any favorite arcade style games that you love to play? Personally, I love pinball!

  1. Wow–that brings back some memories! I confess that most of my arcade playing was done in bars, not arcades. I loved pinball (the old-style non-digital machines), foosball, and that puck-bowling game. I was also pretty good at darts, but only passable at pool. It’s been years since I’ve played any of them, though. Looks like you guys really enjoy it! Thanks for sharing.

  2. Just sow a retro pinball machine a few weeks back and remembered how fun it was to play. My grandkids like to play skeet and try to get lots of tickets when they go to a nearby arcade. Good for those long winter days with not much to do outside.

  3. It’s been a long, long time since I was in an arcade. Probably 25 years ago when our local amusement park was still there and had a fun arcade.

I am older, so yep I remember going into the arcades. When centipede came out I was hooked ! I loved that game and we would go to the arcade and play until no one had anymore money at all. I cant tell you how many yards we mowed and sidewalks we shoveled and it all went into those machines. I havent seen an arcade in ages, and miss those days!

My favorite arcade games to play when I was younger was Pac-Man, Ms. Pac-Man, Tron and Frogger. Oh I also forgot Star-Wars!

WE didn’t play any arcade games, but we did play ping pong. It looks like both your husband and granddaughter are really concentrating on the air hockey game.

  7. I love pinball as well – so fun! We don’t have many arcades nearby so my kids haven’t gone to many, but they enjoyed playing in the one at Disney World.

Oh, my goodness. I was born in ’65 & my little brother in ’70, so we remember the age of Pac Man & Donkey Kong, etc., & spending hours in the local arcade playing those old-style games! Heck, I even remember pinball machines, lol.

I love the old pinball machines! I never get tired of the arcade. There’s something so exciting about seeing the ball bouncing around, using the flippers, the sounds, the flashing lights….I used to a be “pinball wizard'” when I was a kid. And I have to say I’m still pretty good!

  10. My kids love going to arcades! I wish there were more around! My boys also love the pinball machines and the skiball!!

  11. I like the old pinball machines and arcade games, but there is no place around here to find any. That would be a fun thing to do with my family, they are all really competitive.

  12. What a super cute picture. I can’t remember the last time I was in an arcade sounds like fun. I miss the days of Pac Man those were the good old days. I can’t imagine what games they have in arcades now or the price to play. Thanks for sharing this one made me smile. Have a nice night.
