The Hershey Story Museum in Hershey Pennsylvania

Hershey Story MuseumA few months ago my family had the opportunity to visit The Hershey Story Museum in Hershey Pennsylvania. My husband and I have visited that museum several times but it was the first time that my little 6 1/2 year old grand daughter got to go.

So, for my “Almost” Wordless Wednesday post for this week, I am doing something a little bit different and actually sharing with all of you three photos from our visit.

Hershey Story Museum

The Hershey Story Museum is located on Chocolate Avenue which runs through downtown Hershey. The museum gives you an extensive look into the history of the Hershey Chocolate Factory and an extensive look at the man who made it all happen…Milton S. Hershey.

What is really cool about the museum is that they have a ton of interactive things for the kids to see and do. On the 1st floor they have an area set up where the kids can learn about roasting cocoa beans, how to make chocolate, how to package the chocolate bars and how to pack them into boxes for shipping…among other things too!

The upstairs part of the museum is for adults and kids to enjoy. There are some interactive mini movies and other things up there too. One of the areas I loved seeing were the displays of the old marketing signs, candy boxes, advertisements, etc. that the Hershey’s chocolate company used to use. In addition, I loved looking at some of the items that were personally used by Milton S. Hershey in his home and/or business. Love viewing antiques like that!

Anyway…if you ever get the chance to visit The Hershey Story Museum in Hershey Pennsylvania…it’s fantastic and makes for a great family-friendly activity.

This sounds like a very interesting museum to visit. I love the historical aspect and all the interactive activities that are available.

  2. My sister in law lives near Hershey and brings everyone to the museum the first time they visit. Adults and kids and everyone always enjoys it.

  3. I am adding this of places to visit! I would love to visit Hershey, Pennsylvania sometime and learn all about chocolate! I am sure it was really neat to see how the Hershey Company began!

  4. I was going to ask if they gave you free samples too. It’s too bad it’s only the miniatures, because if they gave the regular size, I’d go everyday :). I like to look at all the antique tools and things too. Hershey’s sounds like one I’d like to visit. I always wonder how many times they had to go through the processes and tastes to find a final product. If you ask me, they make the best chocolate around.

  5. I always like going to places like this, I love the history. I have heard the town of Hershey smells like chocolate which would make sense. I love the pictures you shared, and it looks like a great time!

  6. That would be an interesting museum to see. Does the place smell like chocolate?

    • The entire town smells like chocolate! Right down the street is Hershey’s Chocolate World and the Hershey’s Chocolate Factory 🙂

Now, that would be a great trip! Hershey Bars were my childhood favorite. I always got one when my Grandpa took me to an old country store near his farm.

  9. I’ve been to the Hershey museum! The cool thing that I remember is (back them anyway) they would give you cocoa hulls to mulch your garden!

    • We didn’t get that Margot. We got some stickers for the kids, a personalized photo (which was free) of us visiting and some Hershey miniature candy bars.
