I admit, I love doing my family’s laundry. Yes, you read that right. Out of all of the household cleaning chores, doing the laundry is one that I actually enjoy. However…trying to get the stains and odors out of my family’s clothing can be a difficult task. Over the years…I’ve learned some great tips that I wanted to share with you today.
Stain Removal Tips to Get Your Family’s Laundry Clean
1. Always pre-treat a stain immediately. As soon as it happens or as soon as you notice it…treat it! You can use products like the dreft to go Instant Stain Remover Pen which is super quick & easy to use. You don’t have to launder the garment immediately, but you do need to treat the stain.
2. Don’t rub the stain further into the fabrication! Always take a clean, dry cloth or paper towel to “blot” up any excess. Never rub or scrub!
3. Before using any stain removal product test a small amount of the product on an area that can’t be seen. Not all stain removal products work on all fabrications.
4. Read the package directions and following those directions closely. Not all products are used the exact same way! Some require that you treat the area and let it sit for a few minutes before laundering. Others require you to treat the area and immediately toss into the washing machine. Make sure you always read the directions of each product that you’re using.
Some of my favorite stain removal products happen to be from Dreft. Here is some information about their line of products:
Pediatricians and moms have trusted Dreft for years to safely launder newborn and baby clothes without fear of allergic reactions or harsh ingredients that can irritate baby’s skin. But, as all moms (and dads) know, there are many times when a quick spin in the washer will not save the favorite blankie or cute onesie. And don’t even bring up cloth diaper inserts. To help parents with the many stains childhood leaves on their kids’ clothes, toys, bedding, car seat liners, strollers, and their own clothes, Dreft has created the Dreft Portable Pretreater Pen for eliminating stains on the go. The Dreft Portable Pretreater Pen safely treats stains and odors caused by formula, spit-up, baby food, diaper leaks and more. The stain remover is safe for all colorfast fabrics, works in all temperatures, and does not harm the flame resistance of children’s sleepwear.
The company sent me 3 of their products to try out for all of you and after just one week…I was totally in-love with them! As you all know, I have a 6 1/2 year old grand daughter and a 2 month old little grandson. Between the two of them…I don’t know who is messier!
I’m always dealing with food stains, spit-up stains, grass stains, leaky diaper accident stains, liquid medication stains and all sorts of other things. Seriously, I don’t know where all of these messy stains come from but these two kids seem to find them!
I’ve been using the big bottle of Dreft Laundry Stain Remover that has been specially formulated for tough stains to treat most of the stains on their clothing and on the bath & bed linens that the two of them use. I love that it’s in a convenient spray bottle and is really easy to use.
The Dreft to go Instant Stain Remover Pen is a great product to keep in your diaper bag for those times that the kids get things onto their clothing while you’re out-n-about. You can immediately pre-treat the area and when you arrive back home…launder as normal. It’s small, light-weight and compact. Love that product!
The smaller Dreft Laundry Stain Remover bottle is in my travel bag. The children often travel with us and it’s nice to know that when we are out traveling in the RV or down at the beach house…I have this little travel size bottle to take along with me.
The Dreft laundry stain remover products work extremely well! Every time I use them I get at least a 95% stain removal rate. No product works 100% perfectly every time…but this one is one of the best I’ve used. Plus, I love that it has no stinky, chemical smells with it. Great Stuff!

I would probably use the Dreft Laundry Stain Remover in the larger bottle first. Sometimes I get messy stains on my clothes from handling my dog. I try to wipe his paws off before I let him come into the house, but once in awhile he gets dirt on me, and it usually happens when I’m wearing something light colored.
