How Dietary Supplements Can Improve Your Health

November 6, 2015 by Shelly

How Dietary Supplements Can Improve Your HealthIt’s no surprise that using dietary supplements can prove your health. Every single day millions of people around the country take their daily vitamin C, their fish oil capsules, or supplements produced by companies like Ecological Formulas.

One of the reasons for the popularity of dietary supplements is because they are readily available, and they can be purchased over the counter without a prescription. Another plus is that they are available in different forms, including pill form, liquid form or powder.

The most common supplements on the market can be divided into one of three categories. They are either vitamins, minerals, or botanicals. People take these on a regular basis because they are not getting enough of an essential nutrient in their diet, or because they want to boost their immune system or some other part of their health.

That being said, if a person has a healthy diet where they consume a variety of foods that provide all of their nutrients, they probably would not need supplements. But the truth of the matter is that modern society does not make having that type of diet easy.

First, eating healthy can be more expensive than eating unhealthily. A person can go to a drive-through, spend two or three dollars and have a meal that will keep them full for the entire afternoon. Of course, it has little to no nutritional value, but it kills their hunger and gives them the energy they need to continue on with their tasks in the short-term. And, it’s very quick.

Conversely, purchasing, planning, and cooking a healthy meal is time-consuming. And, for many, a hot cheeseburger tastes a lot better than a bowl of steamed broccoli. Now, this does not mean that if a person takes supplements they can let their diet go to pot. There is fiber and other elements in natural food that is not found in supplements.

However, the idea is that if a person cannot realistically meet the recommended daily dose of a particular vitamin, or if they are dealing with a health condition that can be improved by increasing the amount of a particular vitamin or herb that they have in their diet, then a supplement a great option.

Dietary supplements are regulated by the FDA. This process improves their safety and guarantees that when a person purchases a supplement, they are actually getting what the bottle says they are getting. Choosing to take dietary supplements is a serious decision, but it is one that can improve a person’s overall health.

As I Have aged I have taken more supplements in order to,help reduce my arthritic condition. I have always taken vitamins, but have increased some of them. My diet probably does not have enough different veggies every day.

I have taken dietary supplements for as long as I can remember. And not only does fast food kill your hunger and give you energy, it also tastes good.

My teenager, her doctor and I are discussing putting her on some combination of supplements to combat an on set of depression. I have been taking some time of supplement on and off my entire life and I would consider myself super healthy.

I always take a lot of vitamins and minerals. I know that my diet leaves much to be desired. And, even if I ate more healthfully, the soil is so depleted that our fruits and vegetables don’t have the nutrients they once had. I’m always looking for new, improved brands.. I’ve not heard of Ecological Formulas before, but I intend to check them out, thanks!
