A few weeks ago I shared with all of you some fun frugal finds that I found at Big Lots by shopping for next year’s Halloween decor 3 days after the holiday. I had scooped up some awesome deals and now I have all of those items packed away in my attic for next year.
Guess what? I scored at Big Lots again! I love shopping there for great deals on home & garden items, after-holiday items and so forth. I think their prices are primarily terrible on food, beverages & canned goods though because I can pick that stuff up at my grocery store with coupons, cheaper…so I typically avoid those. Plus, those same items can be found at discount grocery stores like Aldi’s for even less.
With that said…I had spied a beautiful ceramic Thanksgiving Turkey two weeks before Thanksgiving. I fell in-love with it but I wasn’t willing to pay $12.00 each to get one. Nope, I’m more frugal than that! Furthermore, I really liked these stuffed pumpkin and squash’s that they had that were made out of burlap, but I wasn’t willing to pay $10.00 each for those.
Anyway, I took a chance and headed over to Big Lots this past Saturday and guess what I found? Yup….the goodies that I wanted and now they were on clearance!
I got the beautiful ceramic Thanksgiving Turkey which was originally priced at $12.00 for only $3.00 each and I picked up two! They’re going to look beautiful on my holiday table next year or perhaps I will place them on the fireplace mantel. Not sure yet!
They were out of the burlap harvest pumpkins but they still had one left of the squash, so I picked that up too. It was originally $10.00 and I got it for only $2.00. Wow!
If I had picked up all three of these items 2 1/2 weeks ago when I was at Big Lots…I would of paid $34.00 but instead…I waited and nabbed them on clearance and got all three for only $8.00. Oh and my picture doesn’t do them any justice! That turkey is about 5″ tall and about 10″ long and that squash is about 7″ tall. They are NOT miniatures at all.
Wow…now that’s what I call BARGAIN SHOPPING and getting a great deal! If they would of had more of those burlap pumpkins and squash…I would of picked up even more. Other than that, they were pretty wiped out on all of their Thanksgiving home decor.

I wish there was a Big Lots near me. I love shopping for sales after a holiday. Your turkey looks lovely and will grace your table next year.
Its amazing what deals are out there if you are willing to be patient and wait till after the holiday. Almost all of the decorations I use for the holidays have come from after holiday sales at the stores. Don’t have a Big Lots nearby but found some good sales at Fred Meyer.
When I was there the other day…they had a lot of their kid’s toys, games and dolls on sale….on top of the sale price they also had a buy one and get a second one for 50% OFF which I thought was an awesome deal too.
Guess where I’ll be heading tomorrow? Since I don’t like shopping I don’t tend to think of places like this.
Boy you scored at Big Lots! I love that store too. I love the little turkey that you got now I want one. I wonder if they have any at our local Big Lots store now I gotta go check it out. I usually get my shampoo and conditioner there. Oh and I love their pet section too. The last big score I got at Big Lots was paper towels for only .50 and they weren’t the cheap kind. I went back to get more but they were all gone I am still bummed out about that. Thanks for sharing this one and have a nice night.
I like to look and see what’s on my need’s list since this is a great time to buy. I don’t have the storage room in my apartment or I’d partake in a lot more shopping probably!
I love that cute little turkey. I haven’t checked out Big Lots yet for deals, but we do have a local one and now I can’t wait to see what they have.
I’m heading back there on Friday. I got a coupon for $10.00 off a $50.00 purchase that I earned by shopping there over the weekend and I have to use it by Saturday. I’m going to look for other deep discounts and bargains and see if I can find $50.00 worth of goodies and use my coupon to save another $10.00.
Last month I purchased new Serta bed pillows there (just like the mypillow but in my opinion BETTER) and you get them in a 2-pack for $18.00. So, I might just pick up more of those for our guest bedrooms. Those pillows are seriously the BEST that I’ve had in years!
