The older my mom got the more issues she had with her stomach and being able to tolerate certain foods. It took years before the doctors diagnosed her with Celiacs Disease since it was not well known at the time. What it meant was that she had to completely change the way she ate and the foods she could enjoy. It was very hard for her.
Today, gluten free (GF) products are so much more prevalent than 15 years ago. You are able to buy foods that are labeled as GF. You can find skin care products and cosmetics now being labeled, which is a good thing seeing how our skin is our biggest organ. Many people with GF intolerance or Celiacs Disease have an issue with products over all, not just in the consumption if the product.
You also have to become diligent about finding hidden gluten in products if you are very intolerant. Asking about prescriptions, what foods contain when eating out, learning what gluten is called in some ingredients on packages are all thing that you have to school yourself on to become truly GF.
I have shared a few posts with you about Foster Farms Gluten Free products and a few gluten free appetizer recipes too in past posts. Today I want to share a few tips you can use.
Tips for Living Gluten Free
* Learn what all of the names that gluten can be called so you can avoid it. Read labels!
* Find GF items that you can eat and stick to a simple menu
* Learn foods you can enjoy like rice, quinoa, buckwheat and others to replace the gluten laden foods.
* Raw foods and high protein foods are usually a safe bet as long as they are organic with no additional ingredients. Plus they help reduce cravings for the starchy foods you used to be able to eat.
* Plan ahead with foods you can eat so you are not caught without snacks or meals.
* Drink plenty of water to help reduce cravings and flush out your system.
Living Gluten free is a lifestyle choice that does not have to cramp your style as long as you read labels and ask questions!

Good tips and helpful. More and more people are going gluten free. It’s great that company’s are catching on and making products to fit the diet. Our grocery store has a gluten free section too. Pay attention to ingredients and feel free to ask for details from company or a restaurant.
I always read labels to screen our foods, even though we don’t have to eat Gluten-free foods. There are too many hidden ingredients that can be unhealthy for a person.
This was really helpful for me to read thank you for posting this one. I am going more and more to a gluten free diet. My stomach is super sensitive and I have so much trouble with so many foods. I am still in the learning phase and I don’t feel like I can even trust the manufacturers labeling anymore. I never knew that they had gluten free skin products thanks for sharing that I never thought of that before.
You have to remember though that just because products are labeled gluten free, it doesn’t mean they are (mistakes are made), or are safe for everyone with varying levels of sensitivity to gluten. They are still allowed to have a small amount of gluten in their product but if even a small amount makes you sick, you have to avoid them. Many just go the whole food route and skip the risk of getting glutened with the so- called labeled gluten free foods companies manufacture (and charge enormous prices for), Yeah, don’t get me started on this topic!!
You are so right, Deb!! There are hidden ingredients everywhere. I even saw some in Tea! WHAT?
