Star Wars 3D Metal Model Kits

How many of you have a Star Wars fan to buy for this holiday season? I know for myself, I’ve got three! My husband, nephew and godson are all BIG Star Wars fans! When the kids were younger…they were easier to buy for because I would just look for Star Wars themed toys. Now that they are older…well, it’s become a lot more difficult until now.

Brilliant Puzzles sells a wide variety of puzzles, games and model kits. Last year we featured them in the Holiday Gift Guide with a review and you can read that review —> HERE. This time around we are reviewing one of their very cool Star Wars 3D Model Kits which is perfect for older kids and adults.

For the review we received the R2D2 Star Wars – Metal Earth 3D Model Puzzle to feature for all of you. My husband and my 14 year old nephew were super excited when their new model puzzle kit arrived at our door. This model kit is for ages 14 and up. It’s rated a level 5 difficulty rating on their site.

What is really cool about these metal model kits is that they come in a flat, small package. If you want to buy this item and ship it off as a gift for the holidays…you could certainly tuck it inside a large holiday greeting card which saves you a ton on postage! You could also tuck it inside a Christmas stocking too!

The package includes color photographs of the completed model. Inside the package you will find a fold-out instruction sheet that gives you step-by-step building & assembly instructions. The ONLY tool you will need is a pair of needle nose pliers.

There are 2 metal sheets full of pieces. You will need to carefully remove each piece from the metal sheet and work on assembling your model by following the steps that are outlined on the instruction sheet. Once completed you’ll end up with a 3D metal model of R2D2.

My husband and nephew spent an entire afternoon working on their new model. It was really nice to see them sitting down together and working on a “hands-on” project like this. Overall, it took the two of them a little over 3 hours to complete. My husband helped & supervised but most of the “assembly” was done by my nephew. Check out the 3D Metal Millennium Falcon that he recently built. It’s super-cool.
