Homemade Garlic Ranch Dressing Recipe

September 3, 2015 by Classystaff

My family loves garlic. So much so that my hubby and son have been known to devour whole roasted garlic cloves by the head. That is too much for me, but I do enjoy adding garlic to my recipes where you would not expect it, like soups and stews. I make my own ranch dressing with a little help from the packets, but I take the flavor to a whole new level with the addition of garlic in two ways. It is easy to make and the taste is awesome! We use it for salads, dipping sauce, and any thing else we can think of.

Homemade Garlic Ranch Dressing Recipe

Homemade Garlic Ranch Dressing

1 Packet Hidden Valley Ranch Dressing
1 Cup Mayo or plain yogurt
1 Cup 1% milk
1 tsp Granulated Garlic
1 tsp Fresh Garlic, smashed or from a jar

Using a wide mouth jar with a lid, follow the directions on the packet to make the dressing. Add in your garlic 2 ways. You can reduce or increase the amount to your taste. Shake vigorously to mix. Refrigerate to allow the flavors to mix and the dressing to set up. If it is a bit thick before use, add a TOUCH of milk to thin. A little goes a long way,.

ranch is my mom’s favorite. But the store-bought kinds have that ‘preservative loaded’ taste, you know? I’ll give this a try.

My family loves garlic also so I can see us all enjoying this dip. Like the different ways you are able to use it.

I love making this with my faves, yogurt and garlic. I liked the pin last night and didn’t remember seeing the article but it is new, so glad I checked it out!

I don’t usually use ranch salad dressing to dress my salads, I prefer honey mustard. I do ude ranch dressing as a dipping sauce sometimes. This will make a great dip. Thank you for sharing this post.

Garlic is a staple in my house in various forms. I always have fresh garlic in my keeper.

This sounds delicious! I love Ranch dressing and garlic. Can you clarify, though – by “granulated” garlic, do you mean the powder, or the smashed-up teeny garlic pieces that come in those little flat jars? The kind that goes in the fridge after you open it? (I know it’s a dumb question..) Thank you, I want to make this!

      HI Sandy,
When you go to the spice aisle, you can usually find garlic powder and granulated garlic. Either will work just fine. I use granulated because it is a bit more flavorful, in my opinion, but whatever you have is ok. In addition to one of those, you can smash some fresh garlic or use some of the fresh garlic that you buy in a jar- usually in the produce section.

My husband and daughter are that way…adding garlic. From pizza to sandwiches to salads and casseroles we always have garlic in the house. Love ranch dressing, too so what a great way to combine.
