Review: I have to admit, I don’t watch this show but my husband and 30 year old daughter are HUGE fans! They both started watching it together and after each new episode they call one another to discuss it. I got a copy of the EMPIRE – The Complete First Season and I knew those two would be in DVD heaven.

My daughter is on a lot of “rest time” following the birth of her baby 2 weeks ago. This has allowed her and my hubby (her dad) to lounge around for 3 days straight re-watching all of the episodes from Empire – the first season. I asked them why they love this show and here is what they had to say.

“The show is packed with a lot of drama and that drama revolves around a very dysfunctional, wealthy & famous family. They are all chomping at the bit to take over the dad’s successful music business and are willing to lie, cheat, steal and back-stab one another to get that position. It’s the type of show you should always expect the unexpected to happen. Every episode will leave you hanging on your seat wondering what is going to happen next. All of the characters are complex and have their own demons in their back-story that seem to haunt them. It’s gripping and powerful.”

You can go out and buy Empire ~ The Complete First Season right now on DVD. If you got a fan in the family then pick it up now and tuck it away for the holidays.

  3. You know what? I didn’t watch the show either and quite honestly I didn’t have any plans to ever see it. Now that I’ve read your review I want to see it, I think you just converted me.

I haven’t seen the show but have thought about seeing it when it’s out on dvd. It’s looks very interwoven and suspenseful. I really like Taraji P. Henson and think she did a wonderful job in No Good Deed so I can see where she would really make this role, too.
