During the hot summertime months I drink a lot of fruit smoothies. Fresh fruit is readily available and at an affordable price…so I stock up on fruit and freeze them for later use. A few weeks ago I got a great deal on watermelon and frozen 9 quart size bags of watermelon chunks to use in my fruit smoothies. Here is how I make my smoothie. This recipe is easy to make and will make approximately 2 servings.
Homemade Watermelon Smoothie Recipe
2 cups seeded watermelon chunks
1 cup crushed ice cubes
1/2 cup plain yogurt
1 to 2 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/2 tsp. ginger
1/8 tsp. almond extract
Whip ingredients together in a blender until smooth. Pour mixture into chilled glasses and serve immediately.
If you like making homemade popsicles, you can use this recipe to make those too! Just double up and triple up your ingredients and pour the mixture into popsicle molds. Freeze until solid.

I have never had a watermelon smoothie before, but this looks really delicious and I’m sure it’s very refreshing. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

I love a watermelon smoothie, but ginger is a revelation!
Well I’m having the plain yogurt this morning and don’t usually have anything with sugar, including fruit, so early so I will save this pretty recipe for later. Love the ginger and I add it to everything for an antioxidant boost, not to mention tummy soother.
