Decorate Your Garden with DIY Stepping Stone Kits

flower solar stepping stoneFor the past 2 years my husband and I have been putting a lot of time and money into the landscaping around our home. We have a lot of plans for our property and after 2 years…I would estimate that we have accomplished 60% of them. Now that the major landscaping tasks have been completed, it’s time to add the decorative touches.

Several months ago I stumbled upon a great online store called HomenYard where you can find all kinds of different garden and home decor items. Beautiful items like garden & house flags, yard art, kitchen items, collectibles, bathroom decor, pet products, games, gifts and all kinds of really cool things. We have featured this company on our blog several times this year and today, we are featuring them again.

For the review I received 2 complete stepping stone kits. When I say complete, these kits are DIY kits that include everything but the water! HomenYard.com has many different stepping stone kits that you can choose from and some include solar lights!

The Daisy Glow Illuminations Solar Powered Stepping Stone Kit includes: 7 pounds of Stepping Stone Mix, 12 inch plastic flower mold, solar module, glow in the dark glass stars and glass gems, wooden mixing paddle and writing tool, and easy-to-follow instructions. Once the stone has been completed it will measure 12.75 x 13.25 x 2.38 inches.

The Mosaic Turtle Stepping Stone Kit includes: 7 pounds of Stepping Stone Mix, turtle-shaped plastic mold, real stained glass mosaic pieces and gems, stone color, glue, 1 wooden mixing paddle, 1 craft stick for mixing grout. One the stone has been completed it will measure 12.75 x 13.25 x 2.38 inches.

Each of the kits come in a nice storage box with color photo and step-by-step instructions. Everything you need to complete each stone is included except for the water. It will take you 5-10 minutes to mix up the stepping stone mix and to pour it in the included mold.

Once it has been poured you will add the solar light (in the kits that include them) and the glass gems and/or mosaic pieces. Once you are done with that…walk away and let them harden for 24-48 hours.

We did both of these kits with our 6 year old grand daughter. She loves doing arts & craft projects with us and this is one that she can with our adult supervision (we poured the mix and she decorated the stones). The hardest part for her was waiting for them to harden up! Once they did, they were really easy to pop out of the plastic and if you wanted to, you could indeed reuse the mold for other things.

You can use your completed garden stepping stones any where in your yard or garden. You can place them on the ground or use them as decorative pieces on your porch or patio. We just love them and enjoyed spending time with our little grand daughter making them. Why pay $100 for a custom made stepping stone when you can buy one of these DIY kits (affordable) and make them yourself!!!
