4 Architectural Landmarks You Have to See in Taipei

Taipei, Taiwan is a fun, exotic destination for the world traveler. Taipei 101

Longshan Temple
Taiwan has a wide range of temples and religious sites to explore, but one of the more popular temples is Longshan Temple. This facility was built in 1738 to serve as a branch of the original Longshan Temple located in Fujian Province and dedicated to Guanshiyin Buddha. The temple has a central hall that is guarded by ornate dragons and inscriptions on temple columns are a point of interest to visitors. If you visit the temple on a Buddhist holiday, you will be able to see the rituals and celebrations performed at the temple to worship Buddha.

Peace Memorial Park
Although architecturally interesting, the Peace Memorial Park also serves to honor Taiwanese civilians that endured atrocities committed by the Taiwanese government in the 1940s. In the center of the park you will find the Taipei 228 Monument dedicated to the people with its ornate tower that features a jade tube with the names of the victims inscribed on it. The monument also has a sphere passing through the Tropic of Cancer. A foot path leading up to the monument is a place for reflection and contemplation and is to be walked barefoot.

Chiang Kai Shek (CKS Memorial)
The CKS Memorial is built within a large park in Taipei where you can see the memorial that Chiang Kai-shek had built for himself. It features a bronze, seated stature of the man and constantly has two guards on duty within the stone memorial hall. You can plan your trip to the CKS Memorial to be able to witness the changing of the guards which happens every hour. In other rooms of the memorial hall you can look at heritage displays and galleries of important historical moments. The memorial also features an auditorium that is used for a variety of events.
