Backyard Gardening – The Beautiful Bearded Iris
If you have been following our blog for the past few years you will already know that I absolutely love gardening! Every year I plant 1-2 vegetable gardens and 4+ flower gardens here at our home.
My floral gardens start showing some beautiful spring blooms in late March with my daffodils, hyacinths and mini grape hyacinths. Once they are done…my tulips then kick into action.
About 2 weeks after my tulips are done blooming my Iris’ kick into high gear! I have them planted in 2 different spots here on our property. I’ve got the dark purple, light purple, peach and yellow varieties. The Iris is one of the easiest spring flowers to grow!
Personally, I like planting 10-12 plants in one particular area. I like seeing them grouped together and the colors mixed. In this photo above you will see my yellow and purple ones which I just love! If you look really closely you will see that it had just rained and there are rain drops still on their petals.
Anyway, for my “almost” Wordless Wednesday post for today…I thought I would share one of my Iris photos with all of you. I took this picture during the month of May and I am already missing their beauty. Oh well, I will see them again next year!
