I love decorating my home in the beach cottage and coastal styles. While I like some nautical items…I am really drawn more to the simple coastal & beach style.
Last month I ran into a bargain sale and picked up 4 of these Frugal Finds. These wooden photo frames had some slight damage to them (small blue marks on the white painted areas) and were marked down from $12.99 to $1.99 each! Needless to say, I bought all 4 of them!
To remove those little blue marks I simply used a white chalk ink paint pen. It was the exact shade of white that I needed and I applied it over the top of the little blue marks and they were instantly gone! I love those chalk ink pens which come in a wide variety of colors and they dry within 10 seconds once applied.
At the same store I picked up a bag of 6 ceramic but realistic starfish that were on clearance for $2.99 for the entire bag. They are in perfect condition and the perfect size I needed to accent the photo frame. I simply used my Aleene’s Tacky Glue and glued one onto the bottom corner of the photo frame and left it dry overnight.
These coastal style picture frames are really a nice quality. They are made out of genuine wood and have glass fronts. There is an easel on the back and also a saw-tooth hanger so they can be hung. I removed the easel on this one and going to hang it up in my one guest bedroom on the wall.
For around $2.75 (including tax) I made a coastal style photo frame that I just love!
Well…there you have it! My Frugal Find and DIY Craft Project for this week!

wow you really have an eye for finds!! This is an awesome deal
You did a great job of,refurbishing these frames and I love the idea of the gluing on the starfish.
I love the creativity. It is always nice to have things around the house that are unique and it sounds like it was fun doing it.
I love the idea of gluing the starfish on the frame. We never seem to have enough frames around here; there’s always a new photo of my Mom’s grandkids, lol. (My niece & nephews)
That is a great bargain with an outstanding completed project.
I’ve never used chalk ink pens but love fixing up used items, so I may need to try them. I like star fish too.
