Collecting Beautiful Butterfly Suncatchers

July 20, 2015 by Shelly

butterfly wisteria suncatcherHow many of you love collecting and hanging beautiful suncatchers in your windows? Come on now, I can’t be the only gal in the world that loves them and appreciates their beauty!

Luckily for us, our home has a ton of windows and I’ve been placing them in as many windows that I can. Matter of fact, several windows have 2 or 3 hanging in them! If I had to guess, I would estimate that I currently own 24+ suncatchers and I just love them!

I am pretty picky about the ones I collect. They must be made of art glass (no cheap plastic ones for me) and I do prefer a bird, butterfly, floral or coastal/beach theme. I also really like the ones that are painted beautifully in vibrant colors. When it comes to size, bigger the better!!!

I’ve got them in all kinds of different designs, shapes, themes, colors and sizes. Some of them even have little jewels hanging off them which adds some additional glitz and glam. On sunny days, I love to see the sunlight streaming through them and the patterns that dance on our walls. It’s beautiful.

So, let’s hear it. Do any of you love and collect suncatchers? If so, how many do you have? What kind of designs do you like? Got any favorites you want to tell me about? Right now I would estimate that I have about 25+ in my current collection and constantly growing.

I have a couple hanging on my balcony. One is a smiley face and the other is a peace sign. Although, I love this pretty butterfly design. 🙂

I only have one suncatcher that was made for us by my daughterinlaw of a Christmas tree. I have seen some of your suncatchers in previous posts and they are beautiful. I think my favorite,is,the fan shaped one.

Beautiful! I raise and release Monarch butterflies, so your Monarch suncather is definitely right up my alley. I have one suncatcher, pretty blue glass, but its chain broke a few years ago and I’ve never fixed it. Now that you’ve got me thinking about it, I think I’ll see if I can find it, fix it, and get it in the window again. Thanks for the inspiration.

I am not a collector but I do love them and have several. I’ve picked up some special ones while on vacation in the southwest that I felt were unique.

I used to have a few more sun catchers when I had my house in Colorado but only have a small one now about 3 by 4 inch that says Let go & Let God. Because of the earthquake threat I don’t hang it. I love your butterflies on the fan sun catcher the best.

Deb…I have about 35 suncatchers! All of them are genuine glass…I would faint if they got broken in an earthquake! I will have to take some pics of my newer ones that I got recently…they are all beach & coastal ones which I just love!
