Movie Review: Killing Jesus on DVD

June 13, 2015 by Shelly

movie review - killing jesusKilling Jesus was recently released on blu-ray, DVD and VOD on June 2nd, 2015. We received a blu-ray DVD of this movie so that we could review it for all of you.

Movie Synopsis: Based on the New York Times best seller by Bill O’Reilly and Martin Dugard, Killing Jesus is an epic motion picture event chronicling the life and death of Jesus as never before. Featuring an all-star cast, including Stephen Moyer, Rufus Sewell, Emmanuelle Chriqui and Kelsey Grammer, this thought-provoking account adds new context to the story of Jesus and the conflicts that led to his demise.

My Thoughts: I am not a huge fan of religious themed movies but I do have to admit, I enjoyed this one. The story line is well-written and well-acted. You’re immediately drawn into the story and your attention is held the entire way through. Anytime I have to hit pause for a potty break…it’s a good movie!

I felt that it really brought the story of Jesus’ untimely demise to life. It made it more real and you really felt a whole host of different emotions from anger to sorrow. Matter of fact, it’s one of the better religious drama movies out there and is one that I am glad that we have in our collection.

Even if you don’t buy movies like this…I think you should watch it at least one time if you are a christian because it helps you to understand some of the things that went on before Jesus died and what led up to his death. I give it 7 stars out of 10 stars on my movie rating scale.

I have been waiting for this movie since Killing Lincoln and Killing Kennedy. I’m glad it’s good and worth a watch if not buying. Can’t wait to see it and pass it on to family members. Thanks for your honest take and feelings on religious movies in general.

I’m not a big fan of O’Reilly, but that has nothing to do with this movie, I guess. I believe this is the one I saw part of on TV recently. It is a very compelling movie: great acting, it draws you in.

Haven’t yet heard of this movie. Not sure how interested I would be in it but it certainly sounds well acted and intense. Sounds as if it gives some perspective.

Very interesting, I had not heard anything about this movie before reading your review. The last religious themed movie that I watched was The Passion of the Christ. I would definitely watch this film, I wonder why this is the first that I’m hearing about it, very odd.

This does sound like a Good movie to watch. I vaguely remember thinking I wanted to see it, but never did. Now I shall be able to get it on DVD.

Where have I been, I wonder, that I haven’t heard of this movie until now? I would like to see how it portrays the last hours of Christ’s life. The last time I saw a movie like this, it was “The Passion of the Christ”, which was so upsetting and violent I could hardly bring myself to finish watching it. I enjoy Christian-themed movies, and I will definitely see this one – hopefully it will be easier to watch.
