Help for Dark Spots and Skin Discoloration

June 17, 2015 by Kristine

The sun can definitely do its share of damage to our skin, which is especially noticeable as we get older. I have tried to be as kind as I can be to my skin in my adult life, but I know that I can’t live in a bubble. I was recently introduced to a great product called derma e® Skin Lighten Natural Fade and Age Spot Crème that can be use in conjunction with sunscreen to help prevent age spots and freckles. Over the years, derma e has introduced skin care products, each one rooted in the belief that skin health can be visibly improved through the right combination of potent vitamins, wholesome nutrients and good, clean hydration. Today, they’ve grown to become one of the largest natural facial care brands in the US.

derma e Skin Lighten Natural Fade and Age Spot Crème

A common misconception is that crèmes like the derma e Skin Lighten Natural Fade and Age Spot Creme is that they can only be used after spots/freckles appear, but many are unaware that they are preventative as well. This therapeutic herbal treatment uses melanin inhibitors as key actives to help target age spots, brown spots, and other forms of skin discoloration. Its ingredients have been shown to lighten the complexion, fade age and liver spots and even out skin tone.

Some of the key ingredients in this product are:

• Licorice – for inhibiting the production of melanin
• Alpha-Arbutin – a concentrated active commonly sourced from the Bearberry plant, slows the activity of tyrosinase (an enzyme that triggers skin discoloration)
• Vitamin C, Thistle and Ginseng – all help visibly fade dark spots and patchy discoloration

What’s important to note is that this product contains no harmful bleaches or hydroquinone, and may be used to lighten skin on all parts of the body. For maximum effectiveness, wear protective clothing to keep the areas you are trying to lighten out of direct sunlight. As your skin renews itself every 28 days, cells with less melanin will surface during this time, creating a lighter, more even complexion.

I’ve been using a small amount of the crème on my hands every morning, but can be used anywhere and would make an especially nice facial moisturizer under make-up.

The derma e Skin Lighten Crème is 100% vegan, cruelty-free, paraben-free, sulfate-free, mineral oil-free, lanolin-free, gluten free and GMO-free. Best results can be seen after four weeks of usage with the appearance of dark spots and dark discoloration evening out for a lighter, more even looking complexion.

I’ve used this brand before with Vitamin C serum. I’ve tried a few other brands for dark spots and they haven’t worked. The spot I’m dealing with is right on my cheek bone so I’m lucky it doesn’t show with some cover up and blush!
