Chocolate Chip and Banana Cookies Recipe

June 24, 2015 by Shelly

Last week I got a great deal on fresh bananas at our local Farmer’s Market and picked up 5 lbs. of bananas. I decided to freeze most of them in the freezer so I could use them when I make smoothies or homemade ice cream but left a few out to make a batch of cookies.

These cookies have a nice moist and cake-like consistency to them and are very good! Enjoy!

Banana Chocolate Chip Cookies Recipe

1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
1 cup mashed ripe bananas
1 tsp. baking soda
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. ground cinnamon
1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

In a large mixing bowl cream together the butter and granulated sugar using an electric hand mixer. Beat in the large egg until combined. In another large mixing bowl mashed up the bananas with the baking soda. Let this mixture sit for 3-4 minutes and then beat the banana mixture into the first mixing bowl. Mix together the all-purpose flour, salt and ground cinnamon until combined. Beat this mixture into the first batter bowl and then fold in the semi-sweet chocolate chips by hand.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F. Line your cookie sheets with a silicone non-stick baking mat. Drop cookie dough onto the baking sheet using a tablespoon and leaving 2″ of space between each cookie. Bake in a preheated oven for 8-10 minutes or until done. Remove and let them cool on a baking rack and then store cookies in an airtight container.

I love using bananas in baking because it allows me to cut out some of the fat and sugar from the recipe. I am sure the bananas make the chocolate chip cookies moist and delicious.

Mmmmm. I’ve made cookie bars with banana, but not drop cookies–yet! I love baking with bananas, and I love the combination of chocolate and bananas, so these cookies are going on my must-make list. Thanks for sharing your recipe.
