Backyard Gardening Purple Bearded Iris

Purple Bearded Iris

How many of you love to plant a flower garden? I’ve been gardening for about 10 years now and absolutely love it! Every season I learn more and more about it and I am always trying out new things!

A few years ago my great auntie introduced me to the Purple Bearded Iris and I knew right away that I had to plant a few. Okay, I went overboard and planted a lot!

Back in May all of my Iris’ came into full bloom and what a beautiful colorful sight we had here on our property. I had peach, yellow, light purple and dark purple Iris that were the hit of our neighborhood!

This gardening season was my best one yet when it comes to growing these pretties! Mine got 2 to 2 1/2 foot tall and were saturated in color. I love that every year they come back and bloom during the month of May.

For my “Almost” Wordless Wednesday post this evening I am sharing one of my dark purple bearded Iris photos with all of you. Enjoy!

I love a flower garden and really enjoy growing irises in mine. When we moved last year I brought some to the new house with me.

These are so pretty! These would be such an asset to a garden or even just to your back or front yard.

I have many of the purple iris in my yard and find them to be one of my favorite flowers. The flowers are so delicate looking but I find the plant to be very hardy.

I love them! I have them in several different colors. People think they are hard to grow and they’re not. They are pretty hardy and do well in most climates. I am going to plant more bulbs this Fall as I found a few more colors I want to add to my garden. The ONLY bad thing about the IRIS is that they don’t bloom long and they don’t make a good fresh cut flower for floral vases.
