Tips on How to Buy Summer Shoes for Your Family

Like most women…I love shoes. All kinds of shoes! If I opened up my closet right now and left you take a peek inside you would see at least 50 different pairs of shoes and boots! With that said, I am very picky on what shoes I buy.
When I was younger, I could wear any style of shoe that I wanted. All of that changed 2 years ago when I had a total hip replacement. Now when I go shopping for footwear I am all about comfort, quality and price (in that order).
Today, I am going to share with all of you some great tips on how to buy summer shoes for your family. These tips are courtesy of ShoeBuy’s EVP and Chief Merchandising Officer, Trisha Sweeney. Read through these tips and then find my review below.

Dads: Canvas kicks and boat shoes are always a great option, and of course sandals are a great go-to in warm weather. Here are a few ideas of what to look for: When it comes to canvas, all his old favorites like the classics from Converse and Vans are great picks for a casual look – and there are new colors and patterns to give every guy out there the chance to show off his own style. Boat shoes are certainly not just for boaters. This versatile, casual shoe can be found in canvas, leather or a mix of the two from all his favorite brands like Sperry Top-Sider, Timberland, Tommy Hilfiger, Eastland, Sebago and Skechers, so there is a color and style for every guy out there. Dress these up for a casual summer wedding with seersucker pants or pair them with casual shorts and a t-shirt for an afternoon on the boardwalk. No summer wardrobe is complete without sandals – flip flops, leather slides and waterproof styles will always be in style and this season brings a great selection of all three!
Moms: These days, women no longer have to choose between comfort and style – there are tons of great options for wedges, flats and more in all of the colors and patterns that are making this season so much fun. For wedges, the key is to choose a quality brand so that your foot is truly supported. The right wedge will take you from morning to night in comfort. We love this season’s wedges from Aerosoles, Clarks and Naturalizer if you’re looking for a stylish sandal that will leave room in your budget for a second pair. Flats have always been a go-to for warm-weather style. We love this season’s crop of canvas flats, which bring together great patterns and bold colors. They’re sporty and stylish and you’ll feel like they’ll be a fit from Saturday brunch with the girls to your errands in the afternoon, and even an impromptu family outing to a baseball game.
Kids: Comfort and quality are the keys – you want to ensure little feet are supported but that the shoes will last as long as possible. You want them to be comfortable but you also need them to like their shoes so it’s not a struggle to get them on their feet on the way out the door! A good quality shoe is key to stand up to a summer’s worth of adventures, so be sure to look for trusted brands and styles you know will last. From Hanna Anderson to Stride Rite and Jambu, brands that specialize in children’s shoes often have a great variety. But many other great brands now offer children’s shoes with fun, affordable options for summer, like Keds, Bogs, Keen and Crocs.

Recently I received a new pair of Skechers On the GO Ritz Sporty Ballet Flats to review for all of you. These beauties come in 3 different colors and I selected the neutral Taupe which can be worn with anything! Looking for some fun fashion colors? Well, they come in Turquoise and Hot Pink too!
These sneakers (sporty ballet flats) are extremely light-weight and you don’t even feel them on your feet! Seriously, each one weighs about 4 3/4 oz. so if you are looking for a light-weight shoe…these are for you!
They are made out of Skech-Knit Mesh that has cooling panels to help keep your feet cool during the hot summer months. The collar is lightly padded for comfort and the fabric lining on the insoles is super soft against your bare skin. The insoles are anti-microbial which helps to wick away moisture and inhibit odor.
Let’s talk about comfort. These sporty ballet flats are the MOST comfortable shoes that I own! If you own a pair of Skechers GoWalks, these are very similar to that style. When you walk around in them you feel like you are walking around on thousands of comfy soft cotton balls. The soles are extremely flexible so no break-in period is needed at all.
As I previously stated at the beginning of my blog post I had a total hip replacement 2 years ago. I can no longer wear high heels or shoes that don’t fit me comfortably. In addition, I often get tired legs and pain in my feet & back. These Skechers are a pure dream to walk around in! Seriously, I forget that I am even wearing shoes and I could walk for miles and miles while wearing them!
In addition to the comfort factor…they are super stylish too! I can wear them with a maxi dress or skirt, capris, shorts and even my denim jeans! They are a very versatile footwear choice. I love them so much that now I want them in the Hot Pink and Turquoise too!
