In the Monterey area of California, there is an infamous road called 17 Mile Drive. It winds you through Pebble Beach and into Carmel and is known for the amazing ocean views as well as the famous golf courses that are beloved by the rich and famous. The homes are amazing and the exclusive area is simply beautiful. This is one of my favorite places to go and spend time.
The drive also shows off many scenic views including this well known preserved tree known as The Lone Cypress. Craggy and wind blown, it is perched on a rock overlooking the Pacific Ocean. The view is amazing and changes every day. This day was overcast but the light was fabulous!

I have seen other photos of this cypress and each one is just as impressive as the photo you have taken. I can understand why you love to go there and take in all the sights.
We recently moved out West and are planning on visiting California often in the next few years; I think we need to try and fit this drive in 🙂
That is gorgeous. I watch a lot of golf on TV, and I love it when the tournaments are in that area–so beautiful.
I love this photo. The starkness of the cypress & rock contrasted with the beautiful blue ocean is really stunning.
I remember seeing this when I was there. Beautiful place.
Such an evocative photo. It makes me consider the vastness of the ocean and amazing the survival of that tree in that location.
This looks like a nice place to sit and stare at the ocean, to be alone with your thoughts. Thank you for sharing this photo.
