Green Smoothie Recipe for Weight Loss

May 28, 2015 by Classystaff

I have been working hard on losing weight this year and with that comes the fact that you have to change your habits. I was always one to eat pretty good but would skip meals and that is not the best thing for you. I would end up over eating on other meals, especially at night because I was hungry from not eating right earlier in the day. A vicious cycle! So, when I decided enough is enough, I had to change a lot of things. One of them was adding more veggies and greens into my diet. The best way for me is to juice them for a huge nutritional impact.

Here is one of my typical green smoothie recipes that I use for cleansing and weight loss. Not to mention feeling so much better over all. Perfect for any age because it is easy to add some sweetness in through fruits or juice.

Ingredients:

1 cup fresh Kale
1 cup fresh Spinach leaves
1 stalk Celery
1/4 to 1/2 Cucumber
4-6 Baby Carrots
1 small Apple
Filtered Water to Blend

Directions:

Add all items to a Nutribullet or Blender and blend until liquified. You may need to blend in stages to fit it all in, but it is worth it!

Additional Thoughts: If you are worried about the taste of the greens, just know that the apple really helps to cut the bitterness you may find from the Kale. Oranges or orange juice also works well to help with the bitterness, but just use a little because of the sugars in oranges. You cannot taste the spinach at all and it great to add in fruit based smoothies because of that.

Always add water even if you are using juice to blend to consistency!

I have never added kale to a smoothie, but maybe I shall try this recipe since it is so good for me.

I might try this recipe. I have tried other ones but have a hard time liking them. I know it is so healthy and such a great idea to keep up with good nutrition and lose weight.

These are really becoming popular. It’s nice to hear about someone’s experience from real life. I like that you give a recipe, too, where you can make your own. Thanks.

Ok, I admit that I’m not a green smoothie fan. I just can’t bring myself to drink veggies. But I know several people who swear by them & they would love this!

My favorite smoothie ingredients include beets to make them pretty and ginger. I rarely use fruit and love the veggie taste. Sometimes I add stevia if I want it sweet.

I’d use more of the cucumber because I like it and I’d add some frozen fruit to it since I’m not using it for weight loss, just for health.

This sounds like a very healthy smoothie, I can’t wait to give it a try, it’s got a great color. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
