Family Movie Night - Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants!
Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants!

SYNOPSIS:

Join a little lost ladybug as she is thrown between two feuding colonies of ants in this groundbreaking animated masterpiece of insect proportions! The race is on, as her unlikely new friends must transport the ultimate treasure – a stolen picnic basket-back home to their colony. With a fierce army of fire ants standing in their way, the little insects must work together to make the perilous journey home. Narrated by Academy Award Winner Richard Dreyfuss, buzzing with humor and beautifully scored, this “heart-swarming” family adventure shows that it takes a huge heart to live small!

My Thoughts:

I enjoyed this film very much. I loved the huge universe in the little bug world. It showed what one little ladybug was truly capable of. I liked the story and how it showed the teamwork between the ladybug and the ants. It was lovely to see them helping each other to get home. I was worried about those red fire ants, though, they were tough and mean! It was suspenseful at some points, because every time you thought the ants got rid of the red fire ants, the fire ants kept coming back with a vengeance! I was afraid they were going to get the ants and their little treasure.

This film is not rated, but after watching it I would say that it’s a movie for all ages. There is nothing vulgar or inappropriate whatsoever. The only possible reason this movie would need parental guidance would be for how vicious and angry those red fire ants were!

My 3-year-old niece was so into the movie! Usually she may lose interest in movies due to the length, but there was so much action going on, it kept her enthralled.

Unfortunately, Miniscule wasn’t able to get the full attention of my 16-year-old nephew, as he claims of not being able to tell what was going on since the ants/ladybug/other insects did not say any words. Oh, those teenagers nowadays! I just told him he should have used his imagination! Even at my age of 22, I was able to tell what was going on and the gist of what the bugs were communicating to each other by their body language.

Their buzzes, toots, and their horns used for their ‘voices’ were so incredibly cute! This movie was so musical, it reminded me of the old-school cartoons I used to watch as a young child.

This is a great film to be seen by those of all ages. They even have MINISCULE: VALLEY OF THE LOST ANTS as a game on Google Play and the Apple App Store. It has wonderful graphics and it’s so much fun!
