Family Time: Ramp Shot Outdoor Game

April 2, 2015 by Shelly

family fun ramp shotLike most families, my family has routine movie nights and games nights. During the Spring, Summer and Fall season, we mix in outdoor game weekends along with backyard barbecues. We’ve been doing these fun family things for the past 25+ years.

One of the newest outdoor games that my family has been enjoying is called Ramp Shot…it’s the next big thing in outdoor games and really is a lot of fun!

The game comes with everything that you need to get started: 2 RampShot Ramps, 2 RampShot Nets, 2 RampShot Stickers and 4 Rampshot Balls. This game can be played in the backyard, the beach, taken with you when you go camping, great for college students and super fun for those of you who go tailgating!

You will need 4 players to play the game and divide yourselves into 2 teams. Members of the same team stand at opposite ramps. Teammates will alternate shooting, catching & stealing RampShot balls.

The Players:

1 – Shooter: Throws the RampShot balls in an attempt to score points.
2- Playmaker: Catches any ball tossed by their teammate (the shooter) after the ball bounces off the top portion of the ramp.
3- Stealer: Stands on the same side as the shooter & attempts to catch any ball that bounces backwards off the ramp.
4. Odd-Person-Out: 3 out of 4 people are involved on every toss. The player who is not currently involved in play, must make an effort to stay clear of the action by standing away from the playing area & giving the Playmaker enough space to make a play on the ball.

RampShot is played 2 vs. 2. Players from each team will take turns shooting & catching balls for points. Each team will start with 2 of the same color balls. While one team is shooting & catching, the opposing team members act as the Stealer & the Odd-Person-Out. Teams can only score points when shooting & catching. The Stealer can’t earn points, but can steal turns away from their opponents.

The Shooter stands behind the ramp & throws two RampShot balls, one at a time, trying to score points. A toss directly into the opposing goal results in 3 points, also known as a triple. The Playmaker stands several feet behind the opposite ramp & attempts to catch any ball that bounces off the ramp, thrown by their teammate. If the Playmaker makes the catch, they get 1 point which is also called a Single.

The Shooter & Playmaker work together to score points. The Stealer waits for the Shooter to toss the ball & tries to steal it. If the Steeler catches the ball on a fly, the Stealer earns an extra toss for his team. Steals are unlimited and you can earn multiple steals in one round which is super fun when you are playing the Stealer position in the game.

The game comes with a booklet that explains all of the rules and scoring…it is really easy to understand and my family got the hang of it super quickly. We had players ranging in age from a 6 year old up to a 55 year old and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the game. Matter of fact, on day one they played it for over 2 hours!

Ever since we received the Ramp Shot Outdoor Game…it has quickly become a family favorite! What is really nice is that any age and any skill level can enjoy this game! My family gives it an 8 out of 10 on our game fun-factor scale! They love it!
