Easy Ways to Save on Groceries At Walmart

April 25, 2015 by Classystaff

Last week, I told you about a cool way to save on groceries and household goods by shopping through the Amazon Subscribe & Save program. Today, I want to share some ways that you can save even more while shopping at Walmart.

Since Walmart is so prevalent across the nation, I know that many of us take advantage of their great deals. Here are a few ways to help add on some more savings.

Walmart Savings Catcher

The savings catcher allows you to earn a gift card if a local merchant offers a price that is lower than what you paid. It is easy to use by simply signing up online for an account. You then download the app on your smart phone and scan your receipt. The app searches your local merchants deals for you. If there is a difference where another merchant is cheaper, you get an e-card to Walmart for the difference in price. Now you will always get the best deal.

Walmart Online Services

There are 3 ways to save with this service. If you shop online at Walmart.com you can get it delivered direct or, if you rather, you can choose to pick it up at the store nearest to you. Also, if you check out the side bar when shopping for grocery and household items, you will find links for the stock up center. This is where many items offer free shipping on household basics that we love to stock up on. Not only that, but any orders over $50 offers free shipping. This a great service where you can easily save time and money! I know I do not have a problem spending $50 when I go shopping at Walmart!

Hope these tips help you save some cash!

Great tips. I have never thought about comparing the prices online. Always nice to save some money.

I really enjoy the savings catcher. Before the holidays I used it a lot and saved around $40 total. I let it add up and then when I wanted to go get some gifts I had it added to a bluebird card. It was during the time that if you loaded it to the bluebird card instead of getting the e-gift card, they doubled the savings on your card. So I ended up with $80 to spend! I wish they were still doing that, but they ended it in February. Either way, I like that it does all the searching for me.

I got some really good deals online at Walmart. I needed a new shredder, and in store it was more money, but I went online and saved $30 on the shredder and I bought a few other items that I needed and got it shipped free to my house! Buying things online at Walmart is such a great service!

I don’t have a smartphone to use for their save app.

Sarah L, you do not need to have a smartphone for the app. You can also go to the Walmart website and use the Saving Catcher there as well. You just create an account (free!) and then punch in the code at the end of the receipt and the date of purchase. Then it takes 3 days to search local ads for savings. When you log back in a few days later it tells you if you have had any savings. Then those savings can be emailed to as an e-gift card or you can load the funds onto a Bluebird card if you have one of those. 🙂 Hope that helps!

I no longer buy fresh produce at my local Walmart location, they have the worst selection ever, I always end up going to Meijer for all my veggies and fruits. Wish are location was not so terrible. But I think these are both great ways to save for those looking to use something new.

      Nicole,

The local Walmart here near me is terrible too! I think it all depends on location. I’ve heard good things and bad things but unfortunately…my Walmart is not one I recommend at all. With that said, there is one near our vacation home that isn’t bad at all and that one…I would recommend to others.

I don’t have a Walmart nearby but have several international markets with weekly specials. Many times I can get 5 or 6 pounds of veggies for a buck. Maybe Target will have something similar soon.

I was in Walmart the other day and was amazed how inexpensive their avocados were. I have never shopped for produce there but I will check it out more the next time I am in there. I really like the idea of shopping and having it delivered to our house. I really truly Hate going into that store the lights are always being turned up and down, the parking lot is a nightmare and they usually only have one or two registers open at peak hours. I will check out the online shopping I am all about saving money.
