There is always a scary time in our lives and that is when we realize that it is time to buy new appliances. Maybe it is something that is not expected. Maybe it happens slowly. Any way it happens, it is a painful time due to the expense and annoyance level of the needing and finding a replacement.
I would love to believe that appliances live forever but we all know that is not true. This weekend my fridge started warming up. The problem started 8 months or a year ago with leaking and problems in my freezer. It was not defrosting properly and icing up. The appliance guy was by the other day to check it out and thinks he can fix it but the fact is, it is dying a slow and painful death.
So the appliance shopping begins. I am not looking forward to it because I hate to spend $1200 or more on an appliance. But the fact it, there are little to be found under $1000. Scary thought! Plus I am going to need a new washer and dryer set soon too! I think I need another job! Yikes!
The good news is that this is the last large appliance I need for my kitchen. All of the others have been replaced within the past two years, so that is a plus. Got to find the bright side!
Have you replaced your appliances lately? Do you do it all at once or piece by piece as they fail?

It is always difficult to have to spend money on appliances and it is even harder when they die unexpectedly. After a couple of years 8 start looking over prices just un case I need to replace something. WE have become so spoiled by having everything in one place.
It seemed that all my appliances went out within the space of 2 months last year. Luckily they were all repairable but still a shock to the budget.
We usually replace our appliances as they fail, we tend to replace our rice cooker the most often, Of all the appliances it gets the most usage.
We went on a cruise last fall and when we got home our refrigerator had died. Fortunately there was not a lot of food in it or in the freezer, but what was there was rotten and smelled so bad! And there was mold all over inside. Had to go out and buy a refrigerator right away, just what we needed after being gone for 3 months and the suitcases not even unpacked. And of course it took 3 days to deliver it and the salesman told me they would not take the old one unless we had it cleaned and mold-free! I feel your pain!
This has personal meaning at the moment and not in a good haha way. I have actually missed your site the last couple of days due to this….our washer. It’s been out almost two weeks as my husband has tried to fix it. He’s a brilliant Mr. Fix-it and normally can do it, but this is beyond repair. My daughter and I have been at the laundromat and shopping, but it’s awful. We like what we have so it’s hard. They all “sound” good, but you just don’t know until you get it home and use it. Scary is the right word. Good luck to all out shopping and replacing.
